Eventually, after the conversation with the young Fire Opal, the Smoky Quartz turned his attention to other things Prepared to return and help his young ward And fulfill his end of the bargain with the Light Mocha Pearl...
A basketball sized metallic orb entered the Solar System, warped in near Mars and then entered "silent mode"; it was still faster than any human made craft, but in a Gem's eye, just crawled silently toward Earth Like the sputniks of old, it was just a little speck of light in the night sky But after it sneaked by the Moon and Pink Diamond vanguard force, the robonoid attached itself to one of the dormant satelites of the Archangel Network and and established a link that bridged the void between Galaxies
...and in the Forge, the communication device Morion gave to the Padparacha Sapphire activated and the hologram of the Smoky Quartz appeared Morion was in his "usual" outfit, he was wearing real, human clothes, - black silk suit - Italian with maching shoes - shirt, tie and cane. - it wasn't his projection, since the shirt and vest hided his Gem, both hand rested on his cane The bluish hologram stood there, like a ghost from the Past and nodded with a smile when the Artisan walked in

As always Para was perpetually busy, although this time for a much closer deadline than her usual nebulous grand goals. A mission was about to be underwent and she had very little time to prepare for it, lest they lose their window of opportunity. She was packing her usual dufflebag when it occurred to her she had left something in her private room, so she went off from the main room to retrieve it.
Stepping into her room, it was actually a fairly barren affair. Unlike Light who had taken great pains to decorate his room, Para had left hers a bland stone rectangle with only a couple things breaking up the monotony of the room. To one corner was a table she made that held a couple copies of her inventions, sort of personal trophies of her accomplishments. In the back of the room was a bed, an odd human furniture that she had become fond of. The frame was orange and of her own making, however the mattress was liberated from an unsuspecting warehouse. They had hundreds anyways, surely one or two wouldn't be missed...
Aside from that the room had very little else, save for a small bedside table that currently had a previously inactive communicator device sitting atop it, something Para had been meaning to store somewhere else but kept putting off the task. Now when she entered Para was more than a little surprised to see the image of Morion within her room, although she managed to keep her composure as usual. A bit of a fake smile creased her lips, "Ah, if it isn't the retreating 'hero' himself. What do I owe this... pleasure, Morion? I had thought you were done with all of us."
"The pleasure is all mine, trust me Lady Padparadscha"
The Smoky Quartz smiled, like a hungry predator when it notices a wounded weak prey
"To be honest, I tought I will never talk with you or your... acquaintances my dear
"Chip, my Fire Opal apprentice was a good student and tho' he made some bad decisions, including staying on that rock, the truth is, he is more than a capable Gem. In fact, he could conquer that misrable planet and destroy everyone on it if you asks me, so not really expected calls from him. Yet... the communication device I left behind came alive some times ago..."
"It wasn't Chip. It was Your Pearl. Light. Long story short, he told me about Howlite, told me stories about betrayals and a small Rebel gem-icide... and he was scared! And for some reason he still belives you are more than his owner, a friend! And asked me to save him. And you. Awkward situation, am I right? But I guess he already told all these things to you... I hope I didn't spoiled the surprise!

The cordial smile Para held slowly faded to a frown, she had grown tired of all this diplomatic dancing with Morion. Her tone grew less friendly and more serious, "I grow increasingly tired of your meddling Morion, even after you left us. You abandoned this planet! Why can't you just mind your own business and let us handle ourselves." She sighed and collected herself, calming down a bit after her brief outburst, "One thing at a time. Tell me Morion, because you honestly baffle me, why it is so hard for you to believe that Light is more than just property to me? Surely you understand the concept of caring for a gem, after all I believe you have a soft spot for this apprentice of yours. So why is it, of all things, impossible for you to grasp that maybe my relationship with Light isn't what you imagine it is."
Para smiled like she knew something Morion didn't, "Did you ever stop to think perhaps you have things wrong? To think just how astronomicallywrong you are. That perhaps you have this whole situation backwards, that when push comes to shove it wouldn't be Light who couldn't say no." She let out a bit of a more content sigh, "But perhaps you've never felt that, I honestly think you've never cared that much for someone. That if they asked the world of you, you wouldn't be able to deny them."
"As I said, it was Light Mocha Pearl who contacted me... I guess he lost his faith. In you? In the Rebellion? In the Universe? Honestly I don't know, but whatever happened, it must have been a traumatic experience. Light is... or was the best of us. A young and innoecent Gem with a golden heart, big enough to group hug the whole world and everything in it. Like Chip before the Broken Gems destroyed his innocence"
The smile slowly faded
"Ligth was... desperate and afraid. And belive it or not, I always wanted to help him. And have a soft spot for you. And the others. Partners in crime I guess...
He shook his head
"But anyway, I am a honorable Gem and I made a promise. Sorry, my nature is not the best. I am a monster. Do you know why I never was afraid of you? Because like Chip, like Light, like Bloodstone... you are a good person. Never be afraid of the wrath of a good person! They have too much rules. At least this is what peaople thinks. The truth is, good persons don't need rules. And this is why I have so many."
'Anyhow... I made a promise to Light. To save you. And him. And the planet is important for Chip who is like a son for me. I just... I just wanted to thank you all the things you did for them, my least favorite Rebel Artisan
The Smoky Quartz smiled
"Soon I will arrive. Just wanted to call you to prepare you for the future. Light is really loves you. Like a friend. Or like a mother. Older sister. I have spent enough time among biological lifeforms to know these things. And I wanted to spare Light from the pain... you know he is ready to poof you, just to save you from Earth , from Homeworld. And while it would be amusing to watch that... it will break his heart and kill his soul. And it was enought to see once when happened with my beloved Chip. So Icalled to ask your help.... to save Light. From himself.

Para was absolutely dumbfounded, she didn't want to believe what she was hearing. For a while she just stood there listening to Morion drone on about all he had been doing behind her back. Or rather, what Light was doing. Her voice was wavering when she finally spoke, "I... no but..." She came over and set down at the bed, a bit closer to the communicator, and held her head in her hand.
"He was the one who inspired me, this was all for..." She turned to him, intent on telling Morion he was a liar and a scoundrel but couldn't find the words. In all the time she knew Morion he was never one for lying, perhaps he wouldn't tell the whole truth all the time but he never outright lied to her.
Her lost and confused expression gave way to conviction, "I don't know what you said, or what offer you made, but this isn't just something I'm running from. I'm going to get to the bottom of this and find what the real issue is, because I know Light and this isn't like him. There's something else worrying him, and I'll help him through it."
"As much as I appreciate your apparent concern for our fate, I still fundamentally disagree with you Morion. Running away isn't the answer, especially with you. I know you, and I know how you operate. I'm not running off to a world run by a criminal overlord looking over a band of crooked humans. An immortal ruthless ruler commanding an entire planet of subjects... you'd be no better than the Diamonds." There was clear venom in her voice at the mention of the gem leadership.
"I don't have the right to tell you the details of my agreement with Light Mocha Pearl. Only him. But he never forbid me to call you or talk to you. So I have never betrayed his trust. After what happened... I think the last thing he needs is another slap from the Universe."
The Smoky Quartz shook his head
"Please... I am not a Diamond. And not a Tyrant, nor an Emperor. Just a Gem. A Gem who helped the Humans if you asks me more than the whole Rebellion. Never concealed the truth from them, about us, about the world, about what going to happen. Truth was always my most dangerous weapon my dear! I told them everything, gave them knowledge, technology and a chance, and as I said to Chip, Humanity needs to be strong and it can't be, while elder things medling around with their fate. Humanity protectors needs to be humans. So I retreated back to the shadows and let them grow. Whatever future awaits them, it will be THEIR future, forged by humans for the humans."
Morion explained quietly "I am still their dark guardian angel... but I am glad they don't really need me. It is good. It is good to see they are survivors, strong and free"

"There's something in your story that isn't quite adding up here, dear Morion. You make it sound like you are some benevolent savior, simply giving away gifts to these humans. Yet at the same time you call yourself a monster, and a monster does not do things for others out of generosity. They have a goal, a desire. So where is the lie? Are you raising these humans to greatness for their sake, or do you truly have some grand plan for them? Because any answer has some very interesting implications."
A smile was slowly growing on Para's face, she didn't realize it but she had somewhat missed this game of wits. A bit of a diplomatic dance around a subject, trying to poke and prod at one's target, almost like verbal combat. It was something she had done much more back on Homeworld when she was in the upper courts, and it was actually a nice change of pace from her usual work.
"I am a honorable monster. Honor always was important to me. I promised to them, gave them my world, and a solemn oath to save them, in turn they agreed to serve me on Earth. But it is also true, I learnt to see their... potential. As Chip once said, potential for greatness....
He shook his head
"There is a greater darkness than the one we fight. It is the darkness of the soul that has lost its way. The war we fight is not against powers and principalities; it is against chaos and despair. Greater than the death of flesh is the death of hope, the death of dreams. Against this peril we can never surrender. The future is all around us, waiting, in moments of transition, to be born in moments of revelation. No one knows the shape of that future or where it will take us. We know only that it is always born in pain. It is said that the future is always born in pain. The history of war is the history of pain. If we are wise, what is born of that pain matures into the promise of a better world, because we learn that we can no longer afford the mistakes of the past."
Post by Forge Master Para on Jan 27, 2018 23:12:39 GMT
"An... honorable monster? I find the concept almost laughable. I have seen monsters, those corrupted gems are true beasts. Remorseless killing machines that act no better than a wild animal. You are just a gem with no more lines to cross, someone who's morals eroded away long ago. Though from all I have gathered from our little interactions, some sort of remnants of a consciousness still exist in there. So I am actually willing to believe it was some sense of honor that directs you."
Her smile faded as Morion continued onto much darker topics, taking in everything he was saying. When she spoke Para was far more solemn, "Tell me Morion, games aside, are you doing this... for someone? For all that I can gather, it dawns on me that I do not believe you would be doing this just for your own pride. It almost makes me thing there is... no, there was someone." Her eyes glanced to the communicator to read his reaction, confident she had struck something. After all she herself had experienced something similar, even if only for a brief time.
"That is the point Artisan... they are nothing that beasts, corrupted programs, their Matrix is damaged, coding is wrong, glitched projections... I am sentinent"
He smiled But then remained quiet for a time, silently watching the Master of the Forge
"Demetry...owyhee jasper is dead. Shattered. And with him, died something within me.... something I never realised I had in me"
The Smoky Quartz shook his head with a deep sight
"But his words are with me. A little of him remained "alive". We never fused, so it is not "him", just his memory, echo of a wonderful Gem. He is... or was my moral compass. He was.... kind. Like Chip. A kind Gem"

There was no gloating or smile from getting this information out of Morion, instead she continued to be rather quiet and serious about the matter. When he had finished Para simply nodded a few times, "I am sorry that you had to experience such a thing. I am at least glad that they were with you for whatever time they were."
Her hands began to fidget and her eyes cast down at the floor, "I can not truly understand what you have been through I suppose, but I am sure it is why you work so hard today. I know that if I..." she grimaced, "If something happened to Light, I am not sure what path I would go down. To be honest, I can only hope that I would have the conviction you do."
There was a pause followed by a long sigh before Para looked back up at Morion, "I will talk to Light and take this offer of yours seriously. If it is what he wishes then we will join you and hope that some good can be done from afar. If not however... I take back what I said. I believe you will do right by those humans. It would be comforting to know there is a promising 'Plan B' out in the universe somewhere."
"Gems who live long enough to know me... and survive, thinks I am nihilistic. That is actually true Artisan. Picked up the philosophy during my "work""
The Smoky Quartz nodded
"Nothing really matters, so why bother doing good things?"
"Don't run. Nobody exists on purpose, nobody belongs anywhere, everybody's going to die"
"Yes, life has no higher meaning and nothing ultimately matters, except the things that matter to you. This IS nihilism. Life is without objective meaning, purpose, or morality, and you're free to do good things because you want to, not because you think the Universe will reward you for it...."
The Smoky Quartz smiled
"Talk to Light... that would be the best. I will visit Earth and depends on Chip how long I will stay and what the future holds. But yes, there is and always will be a "Plan B" for you and your Pearl"
Post by Forge Master Para on Jan 31, 2018 20:56:26 GMT
She nodded, "It is a philosophy I can understand, and perhaps even believe myself. At least to an extent. I agree we have no grand purpose, that there is no finish line that we are working towards." there was a pause as Para listened further to Morion explain, "Hmm, not for the first time I find myself seeing eye to you yet again. If there is one thing that is true, I have never done anything thinking the universe would reward me. I am aware what likely awaits me at the end of all this."
There was another sigh, "Very well, I shall go talk with Light and see what our plan of action is. I suppose... thanks for the heads up Morion. I am sure we will speak again. Oh, and one last thing. He is not 'my pearl'." With that she pressed onto the communicator, ending the call. For a while she sat there in silence, thinking heavily on how to approach this. Why was life never simple...
The Smoky Quartz just nodded He expected something like this The Artisan Padparadascha and him were pretty much similar in many sense - more than the Master of the Forge liked to admit, at least Morion suspected that is the case After all, she was as much a Loyal as Morion was Rebel Both had a companion of sort, an anoying but lovable moral compass, in Morion's case Demetry, then Chip, and in Padparadcha's it was Light Mocha Pearl For them both Gem would burn the Universe to protect them from harm; theye were their companion, apprentice, son and friend... heir Not to mention their main weakness Morion was avare of this, but not realy cared... only prited the fool who tries to use Chip Speaking of his young ward it was time to head to Earth and surprise him!

This Roleplay is a prequel to Steven Universe to an extent with some slight retconing and its own progression to the story that will turn out differently to how stuff plays out in the show. Thanks to the message by Rose Quartz several gems are rising up to protect Earth and have labelled themselves as the Crystal Gems. Others on earth are remaining aligned to Homeworld though despite the isolation of Earth from Homeworld
All gems on earth are still stranded, the communication hub is still offline and all the space warps are shattered, it has now been revealed that this is the work of Rose Quartz and her small group known as the Crystal gems. They have rebelled against Homeworld and have chosen to protect the Earth (Trapping themselves on Homeworld to keep the warps down).
Now both sides are fighting among themselves along with fighting against the 'Corruption' a virus is infecting many gems turning most of them into mindless monsters, but those with a stronger will seem to becoming something more sinister.
The Game has changed now. The question has finally been posed, are you against Homeworld or allied with them. Or do you have your own agenda that may or may not been assisted by the ‘Corruption’. Regardless the seeds have been placed down and although it is only the beginning the fight for or against Earth and the corruption has begun. The choice is yours for how it is shaped on the Original Steven Universe Roleplay Site.
Orginal Opening Plot Here Thread That Changed Everything
Differances Between the Roleplay and the Show
*Thanks to Rose Quartz' message the Gems on Earth are entirely aware that the Homeworld Gems intend to wipe out the human race.
*The "corruption" is being treated like a virus due to lack of info about it on the show.
*Garnet, Pearl and Rose are assumed capture on Homeworld
*Garnet,Pearl and Rose broke the space warps to delay Homeworld
*Thanks to Roses Message gems now know what the Kindergarten was used for
