"I'm glad the two of you have enough sense not to buy into everything Homeworld has to say. I can admit they get many things right, but the destruction of Earth is certain where I draw the line." Para took at her personalized orange data-pad from her bag and began idly tapping through it, "I'm no peridot but I am quite skilled, rest assured dear even if there is something missing, I'm sure I can piece it together."
Once Lapis' gem began to glow Para gently set down her data-pad and waited patiently for the reformation process to complete. Para wasn't one to visibly show emotion, but she was more than relieved to see that Lapis seemingly showed no signs of permanent damage. She let the two have their moment, chuckling a bit at Ruby's praise, "She give me far too much credit, it was her who fought like a quartz to protect you. I am glad that you are unharmed however."
The phrase 'she fought like a quartz' made Ruby blush and smile a little awkwardly, mostly avoiding Lapis' gaze. "No! She really was great! B-but anyway! Do you have any other questions? I'll try to answer as many that I think you might have." Ruby says, looking back up at Lapis. "Like - the - the corrupted gems were... well they were rubies." Her smile faltered for a moment, then she continued, "We didn't shatter them, I just bubbled them and sent them back to the apartment. We're probably about another 15 minutes walk from the place where my ship crashed, over that way." Ruby pointed off through the forest to the north of them. "So we can get going whenever we want to."
Lapis blinked when she was hugged, but after a moment she smiled wider and returned it in kind, before letting Ruby return to her spot. She patiently waited as Para and Ruby spoke, but seemed a little distracted. Despite this, Ruby's enthusiasm seemed to be contagious enough for Lapis to giggle quietly at certain points. When Ruby offered to answer any questions, Lapis looked down as she remembered she did have questions. "Um... is this the same year? I tried my best to come back as soon as I could! But, uh, that was painful." She winced. "And... no I don't think I have any questions about the corrupted gems. I fought one before, and I forgive the Ruby one. If those gems had to escape a place that was anything like Blue Quartz's ship, where those others are being kept, I understand why they would be upset." She said with a casual nod and a glance to Para, as if this information was well-known and had no gravity.
She then glanced behind her at the campfire and stared blankly. "...Also, is the ground supposed to be on fire?"

Para's happy smile was quickly replaced with confused concern, "Same year? Dear, this is the same night. You weren't gone very long, there was no need to rush things. Especially if it was painful, that can never be a good sign." Her surprise only grew, "Blue quartz ship? Are you saying there is an-" As she often does Para nearly said 'another' but caught herself, "ahem, a gem capturing corrupted gems? What for? Surely they aren't experimenting with them, I didn't think Homeworld would be so bold. On such dangerous things, and so soon..." Her voice trailed off as she picked up data-pad back up and began to press away at it, attention entirely engrossed in documenting this new information.
"Oh yeah! I remember her. I met her around the same time I met Lapis for the first time. She used her powers to fix a... seashell?" Ruby said, sounding confused and tapping her chin. "I don't remember anything about corrupted gems. I think she might have been a Sapphire, actually. At least, she looked a lot like a Sapphire. Not a lot like a quartz. I- also don't know a lot about quartz soldiers." Ruby admitted, giving an embarrassed smile and rubbing the back of her head.
Then she looked up at Lapis, to answer her earlier question, "And - the ground isn't on fire! Well, it sort of is, actually... I lit some wood on fire to make it light so we could see."
"Ooooh..." She said in realization, nodding to Ruby. "That's smart. But yes!" She said as she swiveled her head to Para, almost comically fast, with big eyes. "I don't... usually like to think about it, or use words like 'capture'... or 'cell'... or 'punishment'... " Her attention slowly drifted away, before snapping back to Para. "Because those memories sneak up on me, and I get forced to recall them even if I don't want to." She shrugged. "I'm not sure why—maybe it's because I'm defective. But I can recall the entire thing!" She frowned with disappointment, and let her attention drift away to literally petting the grass idly, rather than pulling up the blades. "I can't make the image of what I saw appear in water, but yes. There's a Blue Quartz and she has a ship, and it's filled with normal gems she's taking to Homeworld for punishment, corrupted gems, and... arms.." Her voice began to drift off, as her eyes became glassy and reflective. "A blue left arm with a green left arm and a yellow right arm. There's no body. There's no head. Just a green foot. They all come from the same pointy gem with many colors, but they hit each other. They don't want to be together. There are so many more like it, but I don't look at them. I know they're there. I hear them moving, and the roars from the corrupted ones. Green Pearl Facet 13B Cut-T10 falls to her knees and asks 'why.' What does she mean... Did she not know?"
She stops and blinks her eyes back to normal. "I don't want to see everything after that again, but yes she called them her experiments later."

Her initial excitement for the topic slowly gave way to horror as the story progressed, especially as Lapis seemingly went catatonic. When Lapis had finished Para was silent for a long while, her data-pad dropped to the floor and a hand covering her agape mouth. When she did eventually speak her voice just a whisper barely audible from behind her hand, "You can't possibly mean... not even in my darkest theories..." she began to gain control of herself again, hurriedly grabbing her data-pad away and stood up, "I... I need to document this. Just let me know when you are ready to proceed for the mission at hand."
Despite being much calmer it was clear Para was still shaken over what she heard. Stepping away from the two of them she walked off and began pacing back and forth while simultaneously writing some sort of note on her data-pad.
Ruby watches Lapis worriedly as she tells the story, and instinctively moves closer to her when she goes catatonic, frowning. Then when Para walked off, Ruby looked worriedly at her too, calling after her briefly, "At least Lapis is o-" but she stopped as Para left that range. She turned back to Lapis. "I guess you have more experience with corrupted gems. I... I'm worried that those other rubies were some of my squad members, if I'm honest. The way I felt when I saw them was..." She clutched at her chest a little, looking down. "I don't like to think about it - especially since they were all sort of clumped together, like what you were saying. I hope they didn't get experimented on."
Lapis blinked in surprise, and her mouth dropped open a little. "Oh, I didn't mean to make you worry! No-no, that corrupted gem we fought looked like it was only corrupted, not like the other things I saw in the ship. And I think they were all clumped together just because it was a fusion, not because of.. um... anything else." She sat there for a moment without doing anything, and then suddenly hugged Ruby. "I'm sorry." She said quietly. "When we get back to the apartment, we can try to figure out how to fix the corruption." She assured, despite having no idea how corruption works. She then turned to call for Para. "Para! I think we're ready to move on. Well, I'm ready. Are you still documenting?"

Para's brief time spent away from the two gems was mostly spent pacing back and forth and mumbling to herself while taking notes that were quickly scrapped and attempted again. The ramifications of what she was assuming had occurred were ones she was not prepared to face. Her thoughts drifted to that corrupted gem they had faced today, the one clear consisting of some sort of ruby. Rubies...? If that really was an amalgamation of gems then she was terrified what further experiments may lead to. The raw strength and power that thing had was impressive, in fact theoretically a large enough collection...
She shook her head to clear her thoughts, already she was making far too many assumptions. No point in going mad drawing connections where there may not be any. Suffice to say though, there were many tests and investigations that needed to be made. And with luck, perhaps this ship would shed some light on the matter. And if not, there was always the bubbled gem back at Ruby and Lapis' domicile.
Her attention turned to Lapis calling her, awkwardly looking down at the data-pad in her hands with which she had failed to make any note of real use, "Uhm... yes dear, I think I am ready." Walking back over to the two of them Para put her data-pad away and slung her back over her shoulder, "Lead the way then, this investigation should hopefully be enlightening."
Ruby seemed to shake off whatever emotions she was having about her squad when she realized she'd be leading the pack once again on their trip to her ship. She looked over to Para with a more serious nod. "I hope we find something worth all this..." She looked into the now dark forest, and reached down, grabbing a still flaming log and holding it up so that they had a light source on their way through.
The trip through the forest would take 15 minutes, leaving each gem to their own devices as they trudged through. Ruby unsurprisingly kept close to Lapis for most of the trip - and was not worried by any unseen noises or sounds. Her concentration was very clearly on getting to the ship, so the possibility of getting jumped by a raccoon was not worrying her, besides the fact that most of the animals were kept bright by the makeshift torch she carried.
And of course, Lapis stuck close to group, and to the light. Her head darted back and forth, devoting full attention to every animal that came into sight as if the absence of light might have changed their appearance to where they were unfamiliar. She wasn't exactly worried about them—more hypersensitive to stimulus than anything else—but was primed to spring out of the way if she noticed another corrupted beast coming at them. It apparently failed to register to her that she would have heard something that big coming before she could see it, but after a while of nothing particularly important happening, she decided to let her guard down. "So... what I saw was really as bad as it seemed, wasn't it?" She asked Para after a while. "It happened pretty soon after I woke up in this year, so I wasn't sure if what I saw was something awful or... something Homeworld normally does."

Para continued on in silence for the brief time their were travelling to their destination, tempted to simply shine a light from her gem but resigned to allow Ruby to use her torch. It struck her as odd to use such a primitive means of lighting, but perhaps she was either not capable or was unaware of their innate ability. In either case she was in no mood to discuss it, her nerves were still frayed by recent developments.
When Lapis addressed her Para didn't turn, instead she continued on with a distant stare, "This corruption is isolated to Earth as far as I am aware. Homeworld has done no such research according to any record I had access too. Information of the actual corruption itself wasn't even spread commonly back on Homeworld. If what you saw is... if it is indeed what my theory currently suspects, then I am both terrified and disgusted."
When she finally turned to look at Lapis there was a definite sense of fear, "I can't ask you to relieve it, but if you ever remember anything else please come and find me immediately." With that said Para tried her best to turn her mind back to the task at hand.
Though she had little to contribute, Ruby did frown as this conversation was happening. Eventually, though, it became clear they were reaching the crash site. The dark forest floor was suddenly illuminated by moonlight, as the trees in this area had all been broken and crushed in places, with peels of red metal being strewn about. When Ruby reached this area, her expression darkened. Only another fifty feet, and the three had arrived at the crash site.
A slightly weathered-looking Roaming Eye ship, or what was left of one, poked out of a medium-sized crater in the ground. The hull of the ship was bent and broken, leaving mostly the color to identify it. Even now, there were several wires that sparked and flashed at them as they approached; monitors that attempted, and failed, to flicker to life. The ground was scorched, though it looked like Earth's weather had cleared some of the damage over time. There was no sign of casualties - no random Gem shards strewn about. Even any wildlife caught in the crash and subsequent explosion had likely been scavenged by now.
As Ruby saw the site for what was likely the first time since the crash, she stopped and stared for a good five seconds, before looking down at the ground with a hurt expression.
Lapis looked hesitant to respond to Para, both out of fear of wanting to agree to such a thing and also not wanting to bother her now that she seemed occupied again. Eventually, she decided to push past it and respond anyway. "Okay... I'll come find you again later. I can't make my memories appear in water like I'm supposed to, but I can describe everything I remember." She paused, then added "...which is everything."
Arriving at the crash site, Lapis had to pause and stare at it in shock. This was the first crashed ship she'd ever seen, which obviously made it the worst crash she'd ever seen. What pulled her out of it was Ruby, and she went over to rest an arm around her to comfort her. "At least there are no shattered gems laying around. That's good, right?" She tried, looking back and forth between Para and Ruby for confirmation.

This Roleplay is a prequel to Steven Universe to an extent with some slight retconing and its own progression to the story that will turn out differently to how stuff plays out in the show. Thanks to the message by Rose Quartz several gems are rising up to protect Earth and have labelled themselves as the Crystal Gems. Others on earth are remaining aligned to Homeworld though despite the isolation of Earth from Homeworld
All gems on earth are still stranded, the communication hub is still offline and all the space warps are shattered, it has now been revealed that this is the work of Rose Quartz and her small group known as the Crystal gems. They have rebelled against Homeworld and have chosen to protect the Earth (Trapping themselves on Homeworld to keep the warps down).
Now both sides are fighting among themselves along with fighting against the 'Corruption' a virus is infecting many gems turning most of them into mindless monsters, but those with a stronger will seem to becoming something more sinister.
The Game has changed now. The question has finally been posed, are you against Homeworld or allied with them. Or do you have your own agenda that may or may not been assisted by the ‘Corruption’. Regardless the seeds have been placed down and although it is only the beginning the fight for or against Earth and the corruption has begun. The choice is yours for how it is shaped on the Original Steven Universe Roleplay Site.
Orginal Opening Plot Here Thread That Changed Everything
Differances Between the Roleplay and the Show
*Thanks to Rose Quartz' message the Gems on Earth are entirely aware that the Homeworld Gems intend to wipe out the human race.
*The "corruption"'s Origin is still unknown, some suspect it was a viral infection, other claim it was a Diamond experiment gone awry and other suspect the organics were behind it. Regardless no one seem to have a proper answer about what it was and why its only isolated to Earth
*Garnet, Pearl and Rose are assumed capture on Homeworld
*Garnet,Pearl and Rose broke the space warps to delay Homeworld
*Thanks to Roses Message gems now know what the Kindergarten was used for
