Sadly, Radiant perfectly understood what that oh so very rude jester meant. As Vana's contorted and alert face was relaxing, a warning still managed to breathe its way through her dried-up lungs: "T-..the strings. They-.. take control.." From this he determined the three priorities now in front of him, from most to least important: survive, free Vana of that creeper's puppetry and, if he could accomplish it, eliminate them.
Vanadinite went into a battle pose. At the same time, a dim light shone from behind him. So not only was this clown good at hiding, they were also predictable. Pointing upwards with his middle-and index fingers, he commanded the shards to point upwards too, creating a crown of daggers circling around him, moving up and down at regular speed. The strings were able to catch him this time and forced his body to the wall, just in time for him to swish past a cold-faced Vana's hammer swing just by a hair's breath.
His crown of shards cut through the light-made snares as they went down, luckly before his form was smashed into the wall. What did smash into the wall however was Vana's hammer, the impact shattering a thousand stone rocks into the chill night's air. Radiant moved aside in time, falling and rolling over the dusty floor. Coming to himself again, his shards were laying around the floor, now useless. He looked up, in front of him the face of a cold-blooded gem beneath the ice-blue mist of the moon. "Vana dear, I am terribly sorry for this." Before her hammer could come near him, he summoned a shield from his gemstone. It met the hammer in a blinding flash. Its laser hit Vana through her shoulder, but Radiant did not see this. The weight of the swing threw him off the floor.
He managed to grab onto a larg boulder as he was pushed off the edge, now hanging free in the air. Beneath him was the stony way that they had originally gone on towards the outpost. Above him the red light of Vana's eyes appeared, followed by those eyes themselves starring down at him. Well, there went their friendship. He wouldn't really be able to save her now as he would need to fulfill his most top priority: to survive.
