It was ironically funny how dead quiet it was in the Communication Hub.
If any gem wanted some peace and quiet, all they had to do was come here and they would have their fill. The Hub, once a place bustling with busy bodies and chitter-chatter, was a ghost town. The place was rarely visited these days – at least, that’s what Tiger had observed. Every now and then she found herself back here, escaping all of the noise pollution that plagued Earth and enjoying time with herself.
The location’s warp pad lit up and in a bright light she appeared. She was arriving from a warp pad that she used frequently situated on an island that hosted its own tropical rainforest. Even though she tended to stay deep in the forest, there was a hotel resort set-up on the island and lately caravans of vacationers would ride by in their golfcarts. The vacation season was setting in and all she could hear was the drone of tourist chatter and the sound of camera shutters; leaving soon was the only option she had or else she would have started knocking down trees.
“Finally,” she whispered, “some quiet.” Her tall seven-foot-seven frame stepped off of the pad and began to walk deeper into the Hub. She assumed she was alone and so a nice walk through the silence for a few days to clear her head seemed appropriate. Charred debris crunched underneath her foot and she wondered what exactly the last gem or group of gems to visit this place had done while they were her. Probably something noisy, she was sure.
Other gems had access to this place just like she did, but Tiger hoped that no one else planned on coming soon. It had been a very long time since she’d last had to interact with another gem and, though she didn’t dread the experience, she also didn’t miss it.
