It was needless to say that Glass had never been "invited" to any kind of gathering before, so naturally she was curious on the customs of such an event. That, and she needed to build a positive reputation with the other Gems on Earth. (Not showing up wouldn't be the best way to show her more positive qualities.)
As Glass appeared at the temple in a flash of white, a small but audible sigh left her throat, and she stepped off the warp pad. After a second of stretching her legs, she started walking to the stairs, preparing for the mild ascent to the dome of the temple. "I've never been to this one before." She said to herself as she approached the start of the staircase.
After a short walk up the staircase spiraling around the base of the floating island, she made her way to the top, finally stepping off into the dome.
"This is so dumb... Why do we have to be here!" "Because we're going to help out a friend. Alright?" "Eugh, we shouldn't even be doing this. It's so... personal. And to think, we have to do it in front of them... Besides, who ever heard of a gem needing to be taught how to fuse?" "Oh shush you. You weren't so smooth your first, remember? I'm pretty sure I had to baby you through it too." "Grr..." The two gems had been waiting in the spire for a while now, one sitting down on a crumbled pillar and the other was pacing back and forth while the two had a conversation. They stopped as a gem ascended up the stairs, noting it was possible she had possibly heard part of what they were discussing.
Not skipping a beat, unlike her companion, the female looking gem of the two bounced up from her position on the pillar and made her way to the newcomer. "Well hello there! Nice to meet you, I'm Pye and my companion here is Pyre. Varis said to meet him and a... 'friend' here. So I assume you're them." She stuck out her hand to shake, a warm smile on her face. Pyre, on the other hand, refused to move from his spot. Instead he stood still, arms crossed and watching the scene unfold, "Ya... great to meet you..." Instead of Pye's smile he wore a hard glare and a frown on his face. It was fairly evident he didn't want to be here. "Well let's just hope the host gets to this party soon so we can get this done." Pye chuckled, "Haha, ignored him. We're glad to be here. Varis told us he needed some... 'help' so here we are! So, come sit down and introduce yourself while we wait. I'd love to get to know you." She led the way to the same pillar she had been sitting on, motioning for her to sit. Meanwhile Pyre resumed his pacing back and forth, eyes always scanning the room and the new gem occupying it.
The warp pad in the Sea Spire lighting up once more, showing a single hooded figure that appeared in the light. Off stepped Variscite, in his normal outfit, hoodie and all. He isn't gonna lie about this but he was feeling.... kinda scared. He was hoping for the best but anything could happen with this little get together. He slowly began making his way up threw the stairwell that lead to the roof of the Temple.
"Ohhh.... this is gonna be a drag..." He mumbled softly to himself as he had almost made his way to the top of the tower. Before reaching the exit that lead to the roof he stopped still for a few moment, he was indeed rather nervous about this whole thing... part of him wanted to just head back down the way he came. "No...." He mumbled again to himself before walking out onto the roof seeing his... well friends.
Pulling his hood down and showing his neon green hair again, "Yo.... so uh... Pye.." He glances at the three gems before stopping on the smol female gem, "Did.. you tell her why we are, ya know.... here?" He asked as he shot Glass a quick smile, still nervous about the whole thing. He glanced at Pyre giving him a quick nod, he was aware how this gem felt about him but he was still going to fry and be friendly.

When Glass made it to the top, she was greeted by two small red Gems, one more excited than the other. Stepping off the final step, she was approached by the more positive one. "Well hello there! Nice to meet you, I'm Pye and my companion here is Pyre. Varis said to meet him and a... 'friend' here. So I assume you're them." Glass gave her a confused look, seemingly suspicious of them at first. Why did she sound so positive? And why did she put emphasis on 'friend'? After a short moment of suspicion, she relented and gave a small smile to the small Gem. "I suppose so." She said, unsure of why the red Gem had her hand extended towards her.
"Ya... great to meet you..." Glass gave the other Gem a look of indifference as he spoke about a host and a party, most likely referring to this meeting and Varis. "Haha, ignore him. We're glad to be here. Varis told us he needed some... 'help' so here we are! So, come sit down and introduce yourself while we wait. I'd love to get to know you." Now Glass was intrigued. Instead of being direct, she would play it out in order to get her answers.
Doing as the lighter Gem asked, she sat down on the floor and began to introduce herself. "I'm Glass." She said both quietly and awkwardly, not used to making introductions for herself. Shortly after this incident, she heard footsteps approaching, giving Varis a small smile as he entered the dome. "Yo.... so uh... Pye.. Did.. you tell her why we are, ya know.... here?" Now Glass was starting to worry, something seemed off about the whole situation. She rose, taking a few steps away from the smaller Gems and standing with her arms crossed behind her back.
As Variscite entered Pyre looked up to meet his eyes, but made to effort to greet him. Pye waved, "Varis! Great to see your doing well. Hope the gem is still working right, no kinks in your armor as it where." She noticed Glass standing up and backing off, her smile becoming a little strained as the situation grew awkward, "Wait, you mean... she doesn't know that you... and we are suppose to..." She rapidly looked between the two of them, "Oh, I'm so sorry Glass! I thought... you knew about... ahem." She awkwardly kicked the dirt around her, seemingly unable to find the right words.
Pyre, however, was not so worried to be direct. He looked Varis straight in the eyes, "Varis here wants to fuse with you. And we are here to help teach him how, as he doesn't have a clue." Pye glared at him, "Pyre! Not so... so.. blunt!" She turned to Glass, laughing awkwardly, "Haha... ha... He's not... entirely wrong... Varis is a friend of ours and he's uhm... been wondering how to... well..." "Fuse." "Yes, fuse. And I suppose he uh... has a liking for you. Lucky girl, haha." Her smile didn't falter, however Pye found herself in an awfully awkward predicament. She had to be the one to break the news apparently...
It seems Varis had kinda walked in on the real greeting they were having, "I knew I should have waited waited..." he thinks to himself as he looks over the three gems. "Varis! Great to see your doing well. Hope the gem is still working right, no kinks in your armor as it where." He cracked a smile a bit and brought his hand back to rub his neck, his fingers running over his worn gem.
"Yeah.. its all good, iv been knocked around a few times.... that was the first crack though." the images of that day ran threw his mind... all in all it turned out pretty good, even though the first time he met Pyrope they cracked him. Then he saw Glass stand up and seemed to back away, his smile fading and a fear setting in. "Wait, you mean... she doesn't know that you... and we are suppose to... Oh, I'm so sorry Glass! I thought... you knew about... ahem." Variscites face could not have been more green. His whole face had turn a light shade of green in a few seconds.
His hands quickly forcing themselves deep into his hoodie pockets as he looked straight down, "I mean... we d-did the whole hand holding thing a-and I do.... I mean more then ju-" before he could finish his awful sentence, "Varis here wants to fuse with you. And we are here to help teach him how, as he doesn't have a clue." His head shot up in time to shoot daggers at Pyre with his glare, he slowly just sat down with his legs crossed under him as Pye spoke to Glass.
Once she had finished speaking Varis looked at Glass, his face still rather green and he gave her a nervous smile, "Um... so uh.... you look pretty today." He had no idea what to say at this point.... he was beaten.

As the conversation between Varis and the smaller feminine Gem progressed, she found herself at a loss for words. From they way they were talking before, it appeared to her as if something rather dark was about to take place. "I'm so sorry Glass! I thought... you knew about... ahem." She turned to see Varis's and his entirely green face. "I mean... we d-did the whole hand holding thing a-and I do.... I mean more then ju-" Then the rather crude one kind of just unfurled it all, talking about how fusion was the whole idea here.
"Haha... ha... He's not... entirely wrong... Varis is a friend of ours and he's uhm... been wondering how to... well..." "Fuse." "Yes, fuse. And I suppose he uh... has a liking for you. Lucky girl, haha." Glass sort of just stared at Varis for a second, who looked as if he was just bested. "Um... so uh.... you look pretty today." For a small moment, she began to laugh quietly to herself before walking over to Varis and holding out her hand in an offer to help him up.
When Varis had gotten up, Glass gave him a small hug. "You adorable clutz." She joked before pulling away from it. She could understand the logical reasoning behind him wanting to fuse with her, that being that there seemed to be no other Variscites to fuse with, but there appeared to be something about fusion that they saw as, for a lack of a better word, sacred. It seemed as if they looked at fusion more than just a battle tactic. Glass turned to the two halves that made Pyrope, giving them a small smile. "How do we do this?" She asked, having never fused herself.
The two gems watched Varis and Glass, although Pyre's disposition had not changed besides he stopped his pacing. Pye however was visibly nervous, her smile still wide but it was far more uneasy than before. She watched the scene unfold, as it could have gone one of two ways. She gave an audible sigh of relief as Glass seemed to find the funny side of the whole ordeal, making the whole thing much easier. In fact she seemed very open to the idea, despite having no prior knowledge (apparently) about fusion. She clapped, smile returning in full, "Alright! You're in for a special treat, because you lucky gems have fusion regulars on your hands. But before we show you what to do, I really should teach you the basics." She stood at attention, clearing her throat and kept her arms crossed behind her back.
Meanwhile Pyre stayed motionless, grimace ever-present on his face. However Pye paid no attention and began her speech, "To begin, you should know that Homeworld's outlook on fusion is much different than that of most gems on Earth. Back where we were made fusions were solely for combat use, creating powerful combined gems that could devastate the battlefield. However it is apparent that fusion can be... well, is something much more. It's very personal, you should understand. When fused you share your light, your very being." She looked at each of them, back and forth a couple times to confirm they understood, "Your combined energy is joined into a single form, greater than the two parts it is comprised of. Your combat skill, your abilities, everything is increased. But it also forms a bond between gems, something personal." Without realizing it, Pye looked back at Pyre who simply stared at the ground with what might have been the beginning of a blush.
She turned back without pausing, "Your personalities will combine, as will your very consciousness. But unlike your abilities, this will not simply be a culmination of your beings. It will be..." she rolled her hand, trying to find the right words, "You'll be like a different person. The longer you are fused, the closer the gems become. Of course the gems in a fusion, the harder it is to stay together. That and gems with similar personalities tend to create more solid fusions. Like with my companion here, we can stay fused for long periods of time." Again Pyre looked uncomfortable, avoiding eyesight of the rest and returning to his pacing.
Without paying attention to Pyre, "So I want to make sure you understand all this, that this is something special. It's personal, and it's something that should be done between true partners. If you do, we can begin the lesson and we," she glanced at Pyre, "can show you two the ropes. Of course if either of you don't feel ready, this can wait. So, what's it going to be?"
She... started to laugh? He was still sitting on the ground when she offered her hand out to him, taking her hand softly and standing up into... a hug? He almost didn't hug back as the blush returns in green spades, "You adorable clutz." "A....Adorable?" He almost mumbles to himself as she lets go, his body kinda froze in its spot before he pulls his hood up over his head to try and cover some of the blush... not doing a good job.
"Alright! You're in for a special treat, because you lucky gems have fusion regulars on your hands. But before we show you what to do, I really should teach you the basics."
Varis stood next to Glass with his hands in his hoodie pockets, this was important stuff that they were gonna tell him so he figured he best pay close attention to what she says. He had no idea about the views of Homeworld on fusion, he had thought it was a big deal but Homeworld had a narrow view of it. When she started to speak of personalities combining and... pretty much melding into a whole 'nother gem.. this made him a bit nervous. He kind clenched his hands into fits while in his pockets, he didn't want his paranoia to spill into Glass.
"So I want to make sure you understand all this, that this is something special. It's personal, and it's something that should be done between true partners. If you do, we can begin the lesson and we, can show you two the ropes. Of course if either of you don't feel ready, this can wait. So, what's it going to be?"
Varis turned to Glass, looking down before looking back up at her, locking eyes, "Uh... if you don't want to do this... its fine! I mean.... I don't want to be rude and force something... but.." He trailed off for a moment and threw on a smile quickly, "..I think it would be... nice to fuse with you.... if you want to uh... fuse me me that is... I understand if you don't." He said pulling one hand from a pocket to rub the back of his head.. his cheeks still holding a shade of green blush as he spoke.

"A....Adorable?" Glass heard Varis as he spoke quietly, and a smile spread across her face. Studying human intimate behavior was apparently worth her time, as Varis seemed to enjoy this weird arm thing. The only problem she had with the whole thing was that she didn't know whether or not she was doing the love stuff right. She hardly knows what love is, only recently getting a taste of it. Even if she understood what she was doing, she doesn't know what Homeworld's outlook on the behavior would be. And now, seemingly just to confuse her further, fusion was being thrown into the mix.
This wasn't lessened by Pye's talk about it. It was fine at first, she was speaking about the basics of fusion. You become one, more than just the sum of your parts, more similar Gems are more likely to be stable, etc. Then she got to a part that worried Glass. "So I want to make sure you understand all this, that this is something special. It's personal, and it's something that should be done between true partners."
She kept looking up at Varis, trying to see how he saw this whole thing. "If you do, we can begin the lesson and we, can show you two the ropes. Of course if either of you don't feel ready, this can wait. So, what's it going to be?" Varis then moved to look at her, probably able to tell she kept looking up at him.
"Uh... if you don't want to do this... its fine! I mean.... I don't want to be rude and force something... but... I think it would be... nice to fuse with you.... if you want to uh... fuse with me that is... I understand if you don't." Glass was stuck in her thoughts. "I don't know..." A worried look plastered itself on her face. "Fusion means... more to you than what it does to me." She said, running her fingers over the yellow diamond still on her outfit. "I don't understand how you can see it as more than a tool, and if you see it as something greater, wouldn't I be taking the sanctity out of it?"
The look of worry slowly faded, and Glass took Varis's hand. "I care about you; probably more than I've cared about anyone else, but I don't understand anything of what I'm feeling. Every bit of this is new to me." She finally smiled, grasping his hand a little tighter. "But if you think that we should fuse, I'll follow your judgement."
Pye grasped her hands together, smiling wide (with a single tear in her eye no less) as she listened to the two talk it over. She was so happy to be a part of something so special as someone's first fusion. Eventually she cleared her throat, "You two have nothing to fear, I promise you! As serious as this may all sound, it really is something special. I bet this will open your mind, trust me! Now, allow me to teach you how to go about this..." She turned to Pyre, who appeared to be paying very little attention to their heartfelt moment. "Ahem! Pyre, shall we?" She beckoned to him, catching his eyes with her own. Pyre simply grumbled, but did do as he was instructed.
Once he was closer Pye locked hands him Pyre, turning to Varis and Glass, "To fuse two or more gems must sync their forms to one another, matching each other's movements and energy. The simplest way to sync yourselves is by matching one another's rhythms. Or simply put, dancing. Of course once you are synced well enough, a pair of partners can fuse without this step. Now..." Pye stepped back, doing a little dance around Pyre as she unlocked hands and backed away. Once they were a fair enough distance she stopped and they both turned towards one another. Pye was smiling profusely, meanwhile Pyre was... blushing? Indeed he seemed rather embarrassed by the whole ordeal.
The two gems stood at their full height, taking in a deep breath as they began. Oddly enough the first one to begin was Pyre... Fusion Music!
Pyre began standing stock still, broken up by making erratic moves and pausing inbetween. Pye however followed shortly afterwards with elegant and non-stop movements, both making their way towards one another. About halfway through the two changed their styles, becoming a mix of the two. Both of them moved forward with constant ballet-like dancing, broken up by the occasion quick motion. Their dancing eventually led them together, locking hands and dancing around one another in a short ballet finally broken by Pyre finally pulling Pye closer, wrapping his arm around her as she spun towards him. Once they embraced their two forms glowed and shifted together, forming one glowing mass which quickly gave way to the fully fused Pyrope.
The newly fused Pyrope stood in front of the two gems, looking rather flustered, "Oh uhm... ahem. And that's uh..." She couldn't help but blush profusely, "That's how it works... ANYWAYS!" She clapped her hands together, taking a step to the side and gesturing ahead, "Well, if you feel up to it, try it yourself." She cleared the 'dance floor' crossing her arms across her chest, a smile breaking through on her face after her initial embarrassment.

This Roleplay is a prequel to Steven Universe to an extent with some slight retconing and its own progression to the story that will turn out differently to how stuff plays out in the show. Thanks to the message by Rose Quartz several gems are rising up to protect Earth and have labelled themselves as the Crystal Gems. Others on earth are remaining aligned to Homeworld though despite the isolation of Earth from Homeworld
All gems on earth are still stranded, the communication hub is still offline and all the space warps are shattered, it has now been revealed that this is the work of Rose Quartz and her small group known as the Crystal gems. They have rebelled against Homeworld and have chosen to protect the Earth (Trapping themselves on Homeworld to keep the warps down).
Now both sides are fighting among themselves along with fighting against the 'Corruption' a virus is infecting many gems turning most of them into mindless monsters, but those with a stronger will seem to becoming something more sinister.
The Game has changed now. The question has finally been posed, are you against Homeworld or allied with them. Or do you have your own agenda that may or may not been assisted by the ‘Corruption’. Regardless the seeds have been placed down and although it is only the beginning the fight for or against Earth and the corruption has begun. The choice is yours for how it is shaped on the Original Steven Universe Roleplay Site.
