Sulfur couldn't help but grin as Variscite shattered the gem. It was true that he may or may not have been developing a soft side for corruptions and for gems in general, but watching someone else deal with them never bothered him. He smiled as she finished it off. He had noticed something odd about her stare but couldn't identify it. He quickly dismissed the thought.
"Pearl! Get us back on course! The ship is still seaworthy!" Sulfur bellowed. With a quick salute Pearl did so and the ship started moving. Sulfur took off his hat and let the wind blow through his hair. A hardy grin returned to his face. An island was in sight. It was actually three smaller islands near each other. "Land Ho!"
Variscite walked to the other side of the boat and let the breeze of the ship carry her hair as she looked at the late afternoon sun, which was bound to set two hours from now. If the sun failed to do so, something would be wrong with the planetary rotations and the earth would soon crash into the sun and burn all of its inhabitants alive. Variscite closed her eyes and rested.
Meanwhile, the excuses for pirates sloshed around the deck with random expressions on their faces.
"Hurry ad gof me some hard tack with extra worms in it!" said No Beard.
"Okeydoky then! Said the blind pirate as he fumbled around and finally grabbed a sponge.
"Pirates don't say 'Okeydoky then!'" sneered No Beard as he bit into the sponge. "Pirates say, 'arg!'"
"Sir yes sir!" responded Blindy as he passed out from drinking beer.
Sulfur gnawed at a piece of leather. He had heard that men at sea would when food supply was low, dip a piece of leather in the sea to make it soft. Then the men would proceed to eat the leather, after it was less chewy, and saltier. Sulfur decided to experiment. With one bite, he was instantly hooked. He ravenously dug into the leather, devouring all of it. Although full, he considered finding more leather. He started to look around the boat. He noticed that blindy the pirate was wearing some. He could steal that! Yes...
Sulfur walked up to Variscite and stood next to her, the wind blowing in his hair.
"Enjoying the view?" Sulfur asked. "Sunset always reminds me of eggs... it looks like a giant egg falling into a pan.... that must be the cook in me."
"Yes. I have never though of it that way. I presume an 'egg' is human food. Do you enjoy food?"
Variscite conjured up this comment while watching Sulfur devour the leather, which to her great surprise, must also be human food. Sulfur had latter chosen to ravenously devour parts the blind pirate's clothes. Apparently humans could wear food too.
The pirate with the peg leg for a body hoped back to the ores and continued to row... somehow. No Beard the pirate had started playing chess with the human 'amethyst.'
"Oi! You can't just jump over me pieces, this ain't checker board!"
"Sir. You lads don't even have all the pieces." Gordon the pirate voiced earnestly.
"Quit your yapp'in peggy! Snorted No Beard. "This game is more complicated than it first appears, hmm?" He moved one of the amethyst's pieces over to his opponent's king. "Checkmate!"
Blindy suddenly awoke from his drunken slumber. And began making random sounds. Soon he regained better consciousness and focused and stood up, starting to sniff rapidly and aggressively in the direction of Veriscite, who soon walled away without saying a word or making any expression.
Blindy had sniffed out an obstacle. He extended his tong to taste the air, and found that it was an a large rock mound. This news had to be reported hastily to captain Sulfur, but with proper pirate grammar.
"Arg Captain arg Sulfur, their arg be a big arg in our path arg! It arg seems to arg be a large arg conspicuous arg obstacle with arg an arg and arg seashells arg! It is a arg stone arg wall arg of arg disaster that will arg if we arg hit it, arg!"
Due to the unnecessarily lengthened message and confusing "args," the ship had already reached the stone mound. It crashed into the rocks and large damage was taken to the bow of the boat.
Sulfur reclined on the deck. He laid down, placing his entire back on the wooden planks which had been warmed by the sun. He placed his hands under his head, interlacing his fingers to form a sort of pillow. He then shapeshifted his hands into a pillow. He continued to gnaw the leather that was inside his mouth. The flavor was very savory to him and he ate slowly, not to mention that the leather was still chewy and took a long time to eat, even if gobbled down fast. Suddenly the yelling of a pirate disturbed him. He sat up, a grumpy expression on his face.
"Just spit it out fool!" He shouted. However the instant that he did the boat shook. They had shipwrecked on the island. Sulfur walked across the deck and snatched Blindy by the collar. "Only the captain says arg!"
Sulfur grabbed onto the port side of the boat and hoisted himself over. Landing on the beach he looked around the island.
Blindy staggered off with a naïve smile on his face and walked until he triped over the side of the boat and fell into the water below. Seemingly no one noticed or cared.
"Then it be land ho!" cried No Beard as he hoisted the anchor and threw it to the beach.
Gordon the pirate tried walking, but tripped and continued to crawl on his hands and knees even when he reached the beach. After this all of the other pirates made it to the beach, including the pirate with only a head, who made it down... somehow.
Variscite front flipped off the boat and bent her knees to land, rolling to a stop on the sand soon after.
"Is this even our destination?" the curious gem inquired of Sulfur.
"Yes... the six isles of the sea." He said, dramatically, in spite of the stupidity of the island's name. He walked across the beach, taking long strides, trying to seem heroic. He cupped his hand to his ear. "Do you hear that? Yes...the wind is blowing."
Sulfur then continued to walk, watching the floor steadily. Suddenly a yell was heard. Sulfur turned to see a group of three humans, seemingly also wearing pirate clothes, charging at the group. He thought that their make-believe game was unique, but apparently some other humans were also playing.
"Prepare yourselves! Some real pirates- I mean, some other pirates are looking for the treasure! Don't hesitate to destroy those in your path!" He yelled. He charged toward the humans, drawing his swords.
Variscite glared sadistically at those who dared to interfere with their mission. She dashed through the sand quickly gaining momentum as she bent her body forward.
Upon reaching the first pirate, she dodged his wide swing with his sword and jumped on top of his back, choking him with her legs.
When the second pirate arrived to aid the first, Variscite jumped of the first pirate, breaking his nose in the process, and plunged her clenched palm into the second human's stomach, pulverizing him on the spot.
After the second pirate had collapsed on the ground, Variscite grabbed his weapon and lopped off the first pirate's head as he yelled and touched his broken nose.
As the bloody head flipped through the air, loosing blood, the fighting gem suddenly wondered if she had gone a bit too far. Variscite caught the head by its hair and shamefully presented the ugly trophy to her master, blushing a little at her actions. Her expression seemed to read, "oops, my bad."
The pirates that were with the gems stopped and stared, as well as Sulfur. The pirates exchanged nervous glances, wondering if Variscite was supposed to do that. Amethyst picked his nose and didn't seem to care. Chalcedony's expression was impossible to read under his sunglasses. Peridot gawked, Pearl gasped and put her hand in front of her mouth in a sort of appalled way. Even most of the pirates seemed to be disturbed by her actions, yet they looked at Sulfur before saying anything.
Sulfur however, simply stared. He then started to slowly clap. At this cue all of the pirates started clapping and cheering.
"Well done Vari! You're a true pirate!" Sulfur said with a smirk. "Now let's follow them!"
Variscite smiled gleefully, delighted that her master approved of her work.
She then looked to the direction of the third pirate. Sulfur had said "follow them," yet only one pirate was running off.
Even so, Variscite began to run at an agreeable pace for even the humans to keep up with after the pirate.
When the third pirate saw that he was being followed, he began to run faster, frantic even.
Whenever he saw one, the human would pick up a coconut and chuck it at his pursuers.
Variscite dodged the coconuts as the split open on the floor.
Eventually, the pirate reached an upward slope. He continued up the slope which curved three or four times to a high place. He then took some nearby barrels full of ale (obviously belonging to pirates' one and two because they were marked with a red one or red two) down the slopes. The barrels curved down every slope until they reached the end and burst open.
Variscite noted that this appeared very similar to the human video game known as "Donkey Kong."
Sulfur started to run up the slopes. A barrel came rolling toward him and he leapt over it. Dodging left and right he noticed that there were many movement patterns that the barrels took. Some would roll normally, these could be dodged by a simple jump. Some were small and could be avoided by a sidestep. Some would for some reason bounce. These were probably the most dangerous as jumping to avoid it would result in getting hit down from the air. One would have to crouch under these barrels.
As Variscite and Sulfur reached the top of the slopes the pirate once again started to run. Sulfur shot out his arm in front of Variscite to stop her.
"We need him alive." He said. "Often a spider will leave a strand of thread stuck to his prey to follow it to a nest. We need to know where these three came from."
Variscite zipped in and out of the barrles path. She dodged one, jumped over a second, and rolled under a third, bouncing cylander. As she crouched to avoid more she twisted around to jump over the last two. It seemed that most of the barrles had burst open upon colliding with a not so combat ready pirate ally or simply striking the rocks hard enough.
As Sulfur's group began nearing the end of the barrels, it was noticeable that they had lost two more members. Gordon the pirate had been hit by a barrel pretty hard and lay unconscious in the ale with a smile on his face. No Beard was still conscious and seemed to actually be in good shape for the time being, but stayed behind to drink the spilling ale.
"Hurry!" Hooky yelled out as he followed the others.
"Stop your wippersnapping Hooker" responded the already drunk pirate. "Someonezz goda get thisss rum before it wazztsz..."
"Understood." Varisicite respectfully nodded and then began to follow the pirate at a reasonable distance. She soon entered into a glade of trees and grappled onto one. She started moving from tree to tree, following the pirate from above.
Sulfur suddenly raised both of his arms in the air dramatically. He plucked off his jacket, only his undershirt remaining. He then wrapped his jacket around his head from his chin to his nose. He posed with the jacket around the bottom of his head and neck.
"Ninja styyyyyle!" He said, changing to another pose. "It is best to remain in stealth with pursuing another... prepare to engage in stealth mode as we follow."
Sulfur then leaned in toward Variscite, looking around to confirm that the other pirates were out of hearing range.
"We cannot ambush our opponents when our allies are giving away our position..." He nodded toward the other pirates. "If possible, try to loose them discreetly. It would be best."

This Roleplay is a prequel to Steven Universe to an extent with some slight retconing and its own progression to the story that will turn out differently to how stuff plays out in the show. Thanks to the message by Rose Quartz several gems are rising up to protect Earth and have labelled themselves as the Crystal Gems. Others on earth are remaining aligned to Homeworld though despite the isolation of Earth from Homeworld
All gems on earth are still stranded, the communication hub is still offline and all the space warps are shattered, it has now been revealed that this is the work of Rose Quartz and her small group known as the Crystal gems. They have rebelled against Homeworld and have chosen to protect the Earth (Trapping themselves on Homeworld to keep the warps down).
Now both sides are fighting among themselves along with fighting against the 'Corruption' a virus is infecting many gems turning most of them into mindless monsters, but those with a stronger will seem to becoming something more sinister.
The Game has changed now. The question has finally been posed, are you against Homeworld or allied with them. Or do you have your own agenda that may or may not been assisted by the ‘Corruption’. Regardless the seeds have been placed down and although it is only the beginning the fight for or against Earth and the corruption has begun. The choice is yours for how it is shaped on the Original Steven Universe Roleplay Site.
