Variscite had been on a hunt ALL DAY LONG, chasing this corrupted gem all over the place but losing it somewhere here in this area. The floating towers on chunks of rock were always a nice sight but not when there could big a huge winged snake flying around and hiding from him. The fight started just outside of the town near the gem temple, Varis spotted the creature making its way towards the town via the beach! Launching himself from the top of the temple and right into the snake.
Quickly realizing that this spot was far too open for the corrupted gem to take on this young gem it started to flee, "Nope!" the tan skinned gem calls out as he gives chase, dashing across rooftops as he followed the giant snake. Losing him right before reaching the temples in the sky's, he had his hood pulled up over his head with his rather large ball and chain over his shoulder, his free hand stuffed into his hoodie pocket. He walked slowly and was looking from the ground. His bright neon green eyes scanning the structures for his target, not really keeping an eye out for any other gems though.
A confused Spinel watched as two figures began to enter the temple, one of them being remarkably similar to him. This confusing double was a corrupt, except it was too far gone, and had wings, opposed to Spinel's corrupt form not having wings. 'Incredible' thought Spinel, who decided to investigate the situation further. Watching as the two entered the temple, he took chase after them.
As he continued, he found the humanoid Gem looking around, with a weapon slung over his shoulder. This sparked Spinel's anger, this Gem was hunting one so similar to himself. His anger was strangely tame, however, and Spinel had control. A wide smile crossed Spinel's lips, and he tried to change into his corrupted form off his own accord, and was successful.
The newly formed serpentine form slithered out to the part of the temple the humanoid Gem was in. Spinel slithered into the room, coming in from behind the humanoid Gem. "Greetings." He said slowly, slithering to two of the pillars that supported the ceiling and curling up around them. "Can I help you, friend?" He said, his voice deeper than usual.
From a bit further away, Zircon was trying to learn how to use his Helicopter hand thing on his Limb Enhancers. He was sorta failing, but sorta succeeding.. He saw multiple figures go into a temple, and, being as curious as he was, he followed. He landed in the sky temple- well more crash landed. He deactivated his helicopter fingers, and fell to the ground, sliding a few inches on the ground when he fell. He got up, mumbling to himself. "I really need to learn to land.." He seemed to still be getting used to his limb enhancers. He walked through the temple warily, his right limb enhancer turned into a blaster. He looked around, and upon hearing a rock fall behind him, he turned around quickly, firing 2 blaster shots at the spot the noise came from. "Oh.. Uh.. Ju-Just a rock.." He said turning back around, and continuing to walk forwards. He looked kinda scared of what could be in here.
Varis was growing board... this gem seemed like it was going to put up a fight but now it was just hiding... great. While walking Varis couldn't help but get the feeling of someone following him but, he honeslty gets this feeling all the time so maybe it was just his Paranoid mind acting up again. "Greetings." Varis quickly turned around swinging his flail at nothing as he turned around quickly.
"W-wha?" It... was a snake not THE snake he was looking for but it was a talking snake... was this another gem? "But... corrupted gems can't talk...." He mumbles to himself not taking his neon eyes off of the snake, pulling his ball and chain over his shoulder again he tried to think of something to say to this new gem that wouldn't make him sound stupid.
Once it spoke again asking if it could help him he scratched at his head softly, "Uh... your... a gem right? With the corruption? H-how can you talk?" Varis had not yet seen or spoken to a gem that was corrupted, any corrupted gem he ever saw always would just blindly rush at him trying to shatter him. Varis waited for this gem to speak... maybe it was another metal trick or something? Varis had heard the sounds of some kind of shot being fired twice but this snake had captured his gaze.
As Spinel curled up around the poles, he sighed, laying his head over his own body in order to get comfortable. "W-wha?" "I said, 'Can I help you?'" Spinel said, closing his eyes. "You wouldn't have your weapon summoned if you were here on vacation." Spinel yawned, most of the day had been nothing but training, and so he had gotten very tired "Uh... you're... a Gem right? With the corruption? H-how can you talk?" Spinel smiled, as his newly found ability to change in and out of his corrupt form could come in use here.
"I can talk because the corruption is not as black and white as your or many other fools view it. You don't have to be one or the other, you can vary. For example..." Spinel's serpentine form began to glow a bright white, and his body shifted back into a humanoid form. He stepped out from the pillars, walking towards the green Gem and stopping a few steps away from where he started. "I don't normally have this much control, however."
A sigh escaped Spinel, and he turned and walked back to the pillars, changing from a humanoid form back into his corrupt form. "Pillars are so comfortable..." He said, curling back around them once more.
Zircon continued forward until spotting the two gems- Wait a second, was one of those gems corrupted..? Upon noticing that, he hid behind the nearest pillar, his gem dimly glowing, and his blaster ready. He trembled, before gathering his wits, and listening in on their conversation. On the outside he looked fine, but inside he was still rather scared. He just.. Didn't like corrupted gems. They were so much stronger, and a bunch of other things. He continued eavesdropping behind his pillar, blaster still ready. He tried thinking of a way to escape, before remembering he had limb enhancers, which he could separate from if he really needed to. Besides that, he looked for possible exits. The way he came from was the most probable. After that, he continued listening in.
"Um.... maybe you can..." He mumbled still wondering where the flying snake had gone off to, "I can talk because the corruption is not as black and white as you or many other fools view it. You don't have to be one or the other, you can vary. For example..." the corrupted gem spoke, "Was he.... insulting me?" Varis couldn't help but be stuck on that and wanted to try and prove that he was no fool but... maybe this gem had a point. Varis knew little to nothing about the corrupted gems.
The tall tan skinned gem watched as this gem turned back into a snake only to crawl around some pillars, "O-Ok... I had no idea their were like stages t-to it..." He paused for a moment, "Have you seen a corrupted gem snake... with wings! Fly threw here?" He tugged on his chain slightly as he adjusted it higher onto his shoulder while his crystal ball hung heavily towards the ground. He was still completely oblivious to the gem hiding near by.
"O-Ok... I had no idea their were like stages t-to it..." "Not many do, nervous one." He said, his eyes closed once more. "Have you seen a corrupted gem snake... with wings! Fly through here?" "That I have. And you want to know where it is because it's a dangerous monster, of course." He said, the tint of his voice no longer so positive. "Yes, I saw such a creature. I know not where they went, however."
Spinel slithered out away from the pillars, his body shifting from a serpentine figure back into a humanoid one. He turned, now looking at the Variscite. "If you think you can find them and kill them, then by all means, do so. But be warned that I do not welcome ones who hunt corrupts with open arms." Spinel turned towards the entrance of the temple. "You have until sundown before you must leave." He said, leaving the room and quickly making his way onto the roof of the building. He planned to watch the Variscite in action, to see how he fights. He had already gotten a large amount of information just by looking into the Gem's eyes.
Zircon slowly but surely started making his way out of the temple, turning his blaster arm back into a normal arm. However, he was looking back, and didn't notice a rock in his path. He tripped, falling face first. "Agh!" Was all he could uh.. communicate before his face hit the ground. He fell onto a few other smaller rocks, making some noise. He rose slowly, turning around to see if they had noticed him or not. He turned his arm back into a blaster as he did. He started backing away slowly again, looking behind him now, but still he was walking quite slowly. He looked behind him only to notice his exit had been blocked off by rubble. That shot he fired earlier must have triggered a late reaction.. "Are you kidding me?!" He said, whisper shouting. He slowly walked back to where he was. He was curious as to why he hadn't heard it collapse earlier..
Varis gave off a sigh... this gem was starting to get under his skin, "Im not n-n .... nervous. Just not the best at talking..." He mumbled softly, "That I have. And you want to know where it is because it's a dangerous monster, of course." Varis raised his hand to say something in return but... this gem was correct. The corrupted flying snake was heading straight for the city! So of course Varis had in mind that this creature was dangerous.
The tan skinned gem watched as he shifted back into a human like form once more, "If you think you can find them and kill them, then by all means, do so. But be warned that I do not welcome ones who hunt corrupts with open arms." looks like things turned pretty real, pretty fast. "Kill? You think im g-gonna KILL it?!" Variscite was a bit shocked, "I d-dont want to kill it! Just... s-stop it from hurting others, yeah?" He said turning his body to look at this other gem once more.
"I just bubb-" He was cut off quickly as the other gem spoke again, "You have until sundown before you must leave." this made Varis give an odd face to this gem, "Uh... im pretty sure I c-can come and go as I like threw here..." He mumbles before, "Agh!" is heard with the sound of something falling. Without skipping a beat Varis had taken off in a full blown sprint towards the sound, dragging his ball and chain behind him.
Sliding around a corner ready to leap into a fight but... "Y-your... not corrupt... wait are you?" He dropped his arm down letting his crystal ball hit the ground with a loud thud. Now Varis is gonna be question whether a gem is corrupted or not quite often.
As Zircon was walking he heard a loud thud against the ground, which put him on edge. He walked forward slowly & cautiously, looking around him nervously. His blaster was still ready. He had it in front of his face. He then stood still, waiting for the other gem to come forward.. If that was their plan anyways.. His gem glowed dimly, providing just a small amount of light.
He listened for the other gem to make any noises. He tried to stay in the shadows as much as possible, but it's a little hard when your entirely blue, but he still tried. He also tried to mask his footsteps, but again it's kinda hard when you're wearing metallic limb enhancers.
Variscite could have sworn he had heard someone... or maybe it was his target? Either way it was no time to not be ready for anything. Pulling his ball and chain up, holding the chain with both hands and letting the ball rest as it dangled. His chain was not the most quiet weapon as it was always clanking and making noises, "Uh... Y-yo? You c-can come out..." He sounded a bit on edge still.
Varis was more just hoping that whatever gem was around that he wasn't able to see was just that... a normal gem. Getting jumped by that flying creature didn't sit well with the tan skinned gem. Variscite had even passed Zircon... looking right over the gem and thinking that the metal sounds he he heard softly was just the chain to his weapon.
How had the gem not seen him? Zircon was surprised. He looked at the weapon in his hands, and quickly thought of possible ways a fight could go in case once he communicated with this gem things went badly. The weapon was probably heavy, and might take longer to swing, giving him time to dodge and make a move. Although, if he got hit by the thing, it would be like the human 'wrecking ball'.
"You passed me." He said looking at the gem that had passed him. He came out behind Varis, looking at him. His gem stopped glowing, but he was still kind of on edge. Zircon still had one of his arms as a blaster, due to the fact that as I just said, he's still kind of on edge.
The tall gem knew he had heard some one... but whe-, "You passed me." quickly spinning around ready to swing only to see a shorter gem. He turned ready to swing his weapon but this gem didn't look corrupt... and if it wanted to harm him why not just take a swing at him while he wasn't looking? "Uh.... I guess I d-did... your... not corrupt are you?" He asked rather bluntly.
Not noticing the blaster for a hand just yet as he was more interested in hearing with this gem had to say, he took a few steps closer holding his ball and chain with both hands, "Im.... Variscite... or V-Varis for short." He spoke in a slight mumble, he had come here to fight the corrupted creature that almost attacked the town... not some random gem he had never seen before... but what if it was some kind of evil Homeworld gem? "Oh! Just to uh... make sure... im o-of the Crystal Gems... just getting that out of the way." His eyes were locked on this gem now... hopefully this wasn't going to turn into yet another fight.
Not while there was that one flying corrupt gem and that... snake fellow that had told him to leave were skulking about.
"Crystal Gem? Oh, yeah.. The rebels." He turned his blaster back to normal before summoning his sabre. "If you haven't noticed, I happen to be a Homeworld Gem. Zircon, Facet 2J7C, Cut 9ZT." He said nonchalantly. He got into a stance, and prepared himself for the probably incoming fight.
His blade was darkened by the shade in the hallway. Would the other gem even have enough space to swing his weapon? Zircon hoped he didn't, since it would allow him to get a few quick strikes in. Zircon's entire body looked darker as well due to the shade. Not by much, but still some. He waited for the rebel to respond, curious as to how he would react to the situation.

This Roleplay is a prequel to Steven Universe to an extent with some slight retconing and its own progression to the story that will turn out differently to how stuff plays out in the show. Thanks to the message by Rose Quartz several gems are rising up to protect Earth and have labelled themselves as the Crystal Gems. Others on earth are remaining aligned to Homeworld though despite the isolation of Earth from Homeworld
All gems on earth are still stranded, the communication hub is still offline and all the space warps are shattered, it has now been revealed that this is the work of Rose Quartz and her small group known as the Crystal gems. They have rebelled against Homeworld and have chosen to protect the Earth (Trapping themselves on Homeworld to keep the warps down).
Now both sides are fighting among themselves along with fighting against the 'Corruption' a virus is infecting many gems turning most of them into mindless monsters, but those with a stronger will seem to becoming something more sinister.
The Game has changed now. The question has finally been posed, are you against Homeworld or allied with them. Or do you have your own agenda that may or may not been assisted by the ‘Corruption’. Regardless the seeds have been placed down and although it is only the beginning the fight for or against Earth and the corruption has begun. The choice is yours for how it is shaped on the Original Steven Universe Roleplay Site.

Differances Between the Roleplay and the Show
*Thanks to Rose Quartz' message the Gems on Earth are entirely aware that the Homeworld Gems intend to wipe out the human race.

*Garnet, Pearl and Rose are assumed capture on Homeworld
*Garnet,Pearl and Rose broke the space warps to delay Homeworld
*Thanks to Roses Message gems now know what the Kindergarten was used for
