"Care to tell me why we're walking on top of an active volcano?"
The sky was bright with the occasional cloud drifting over the sky. An usual afternoon on an usual day. Two pair of footsteps crushed against the basalt ground as they navigated the geothermal site, the still air making the area feel hotter than usual. Vanadinite's both eyes were highlighted in bright red as she walked along her shorter orange companion, her attention fixated on the road ahead. Tiger's attention was fixated on Vanadinite instead, who seemed to have completely ignored her question.
"Hello? Are you gonna tell me what we're doing here?"
Unresponsive, it was as if Vana couldn't hear her at all. Frusturated by this, Tiger got ready to yell to get her attention.
"VANA! STOP IGNORI-!" Tiger's cry was cut short as her boot was met by a particularly sturdy bump in the road. She lost her words along with her balance as she watched the ground come closer to her face. Before she managed to make impact, she was caught by the collar of her sweater, saving her from the fall just in time. Her shocked expression persisted for a few seconds before she realized she no longer was in danger, a swift pull backwards causing her to regain her balance. She stumbled slightly from the pull, but was otherwise back to normal. She then realized who her saviour was.
"Watch where you're going. You almost fell."
Tiger responded with an angry glare, while Vanadinite seemed clueless, her eyes no longer flaring red.
"What?" "You didn't respond to me!" "Oh- Sorry. I was busy looking for where we're headed. It should be somewhere around here. What were you asking?"
Tiger rolled her eyes with a sigh as they continued walking. "That's exactly what I want to know. Where are we going? Is there some hidden Corrupted lair here that we're going to clear out? Some desperate humans in need of help?"
"Nope. We're headed to the heart of Crystal Gem manufactoring. The Forge itself.. I think you'll find it interesting. I've heard the Forgemaster is a bit strange, but don't let that bother you."
Vanadinite hadn't been to this place before, but she was looking forward to it. It would be a good opportunity to show the strength of the rebellion and prove that they stood a chance against the galactical empire that was Homeworld. Plus, it was useful to have contacts here either way. Would there ever be a Homeworld invasion, it'd be useful to get an extra weapon or two as well as some armor. Her vigilante work so far clearing out the Earth from Corrupt and occasional Homeworld alike had been a solid occupation, but once the time came she needed to be ready for the bigger threats.
Vanadinite's eyes began glowing again. Her expression remained neutral for some time before suddenly she widened her eyes and stopped in her tracks. "Found it! It's right behind this corner!" Vanadinite dashed into a sprint forward. Tiger reached forward trying to halt her, but it was too late. "H-hey! Wait for me!" She called out before following with a sprint of her own. Vanadinite turned her head as she ran, looking Tiger in her eyes. "Wait a bit behind me! I'll check them out first and see how they respond to visitors!" Tiger understood, and her eyes began emitting a subtle red. She slowed down and hid out of sight, letting Vanadinite take the initiative.
Vanadinite stopped her sprint as she reached what she percieved to be the entrance to the Forge. She looked around, slightly confused on what to do now. She couldn't see a doorbell, so there was only one way to make an entrance. She pulled her sweater collar down to reveal her gem and pulled out a rod of light. As it was fully withdrawn she would swing it through the air, aimed right towards the door. "Knock-!" The end of the rod began materializing the head of a hammer right before impact, creating a loud explosion-like noise as the giant force of a warhammer met with the sturdiness of the Forge's gate. Surely someone heard it, but just to be safe, she took an extra swing. "Knock!"
