The walls of the ravine often referred to Gems as The Kindergarten stood on each side of Obsidian like the imposing walls of a fortress. Speaking of fortresses, that was exactly why Obsidian was here. He may technically be a Crystal Gem, but he often felt cramped and out of place at the Crystal Temple. He needed a place to call his own.
Obsidian approached one of the ravine walls and pressed his hands to it. The rock that formed the wall began to gradually heat up and turn red. It softened as it began to melt and Obsidian stepped inside melting rock. The red glow began to expand more quickly. As the rock melted, Obsidian began to be able to control and shape it. A pillar of molten rock emerged and began to rise as the molten rock began to deform and take a new shape. The central pillar rose higher as a castle-like shape began to form around it.
As the central spire rose, more tower formed around, it, though much shorter. Once the shape of the castle was formed, the magma around it condensed and widened, forming a wall around the castle. Around the wall, the magma sunk and melted into the ground, forming a moat around the entire perimeter. The castle and the walls gradually began to glow less as they cooled and hardened, forming obsidian. What was left was a castle and a wall with an outer layer of Obsidian, reinforced underneath with solid stone. This caused the outside of the castle to have a black shine.
Obsidian stood at the peak of the central spire when the caste was fully formed and solidified. He looked around and examined his work. This would do, this would be his sanctum a place he could call his own.

Carbide's boots brought softly echoing thuds through the dim light and dead air of the kindergarten, accented every so often by the bouncing clack patter patter of a kicked pebble, or the snap of a dry lifeless twig beneath her heel. The scout had arrived by way of the warp pad at the far end of the kindergarten complex, and had been jogging her way through the labyrinth of chasms with her denim back pack bouncing along underneath her angular poncho, its confines filled with a few odd trinkets and gem artifacts that she figured her friend, Agate, who had a small hidden dwelling in the quieter corner of the kindergarten, might appreciate adding to his collection of this'n'that.
The way to his modest little home had always been a bit tricky to remember, partially because so much of the terrain here looked the same, and partially because he had gone out of the way to keep his hide away, clear of random passers by. Carbide swept her thick dark iridescent locks from her visor as her specially tuned scout's eyes kept a look out for corrupted gem monsters that seemed to creep out of the shadows and abandoned incubation holes in the valley walls, each one a perfect little ambush point.
As she jogged along, she kept track of a few small land marks as well as some gouges she had smashed into various rocks and portions of the wall to help her remember the way. As she went along she found herself stopping and scratching at the back of her head, swearing that her next marker SHOULD have been somewhere in the area. She was about half way along her route and she wasn't about to turn back. As the heavy scout presses on she reaches an especially narrow area of the valley, a crevice barely a meter wide, that she recognized as part of her route, as she squeezed and ducked past the various outcropping at the natural choke point, she would exit out into an broad open area that lead her to the final leg of her path, but now.... now.. something was different..something blocking her way that would force her to go around at least another two kilometers to another viable path.. however this gem.. had no such patience for that today as she stared up at the mysteriously-suddently-just-THERE-castle that now blocked her way.
Visually, it was impressive to look at, a clever work of form and function, but to Carbide, it meant that she was about to walk right through someone's living room... or keep.. or..whatever rooms castles had. "Oh $%&# all kinds of Duck! Take the path to the left of the big rock shaped like the backside of Yellow Diamond's head.. go through the narrow path, and carry on through the open caldera, and exit the other side, easy-peasy.. Easy of course, until someone goes and drops a castle right in your way Carbide... ugh... that sweet lil pebble better appreciate what I go through for him some times, hehe!"
She chuckles, thinking of her small friend and starts walking forward into the caldera, feeling the ambient temperature rise ever more sharply as she approaches the structure and its walls, that apparently had only recently been formed with a lava moat of all things flowing around outside. The scout sighs in frustration, bundling her pack and poncho, magically tucking them away to her personal pocket storage dimension and steps tentatively into the lava moat, similarly to how a human might enter a hot tub, making a few "ooh!" and "aah!" noises before seeming to acclimate, taking in the heat, her tolerance for which was immense compared to other gems, and certainly organics as well. She begins to walk, fighting through the thick current of lava until even her head disappears, only to reappear a minuet or two later at the far side of the moat, the edges her body, visor and tips of her gem core's facets bearing a slight magma-esque glow where it protruded high between her shoulder blades.
Her hands grip the far edge of the moat and hoist her out, one foot at a time, standing and brushing off the slag from her greyish 'skin', retrieving her pack and garment, then turning to face the structure.. "Well, guess I better go meet the neighbors..hope they don't mind a few footprints on their new floor.." And with that the scout backs her 6'0 frame a few paces and takes a running dash at the wall, boosting into a jump and repelling off an outcropping of a tall boulder near by, launches her rugged frame up and over the wall, landing rather heavily on the other side, her impact making a heavy "Crunch-thud" sound , which makes her wince and bite her tongue... she should have been quieter than that.. oh well, time was wasting, and so was daylight... not that it mattered to her senses.. but still, her figure rises and moves forward through the courtyard, towards the castle's keep..

The peak of the central spire of Obsidian's newly formed castle afforded a spectacular view of The Kindergarten. To some, the Kindergarten may seem drab, but from this view, Obsidian found it have a sense of beauty to it. The dark crevices of The Kindergarten stretched to the horizon where they met the sky and beckoned the sun finish setting and join them. Obsidian began to think about the castle's security. He had made sure to form a wall and a magma moat, which should suffice to keep most potential intruders out, but there was no guarantee. As if on cue, Obsidian heard the echo of the thud that Carbide had made as it bounced off the ravine wall and his castle.
Obsidian's head turned in the direction the noise appeared to emanate from. He moved toward the edge of the spire and peered over the edge. A figure could be seen below, inside the courtyard, making it's way toward the keep. The visitor's intentions were unknown, but they would be known soon. Rather than wake his way down the spire, stairs, Obsidian opted for the more direct route. He lept off the spire and surrounded himself in magma to coushin the impact with the ground. He land between Carbide and the entrance to the keep, about 15 feet in front of the newcomer. As soon as he had landed, the magma withdrew back under his armor and he turned to face Carbide.
"I am Obsidian, welcome to my castle." He said to her, acting polite, despite the overblown method of intercepting her.

Carbide cranes her head upward as she spots a glowing figure leap from an upper level of the structure "Oh good! the Mrs. of the house is home!" she chirped to herself as she followed the figure's rapid descent with her gaze until it touched down like a molten meteor, spattering her face and outfit with little bits of birght orange magma that quickly cooled and solidified on her form, leaving her with somewhat of a facial expression that a human might bare when holding an infant, only to have it sneeze gooey human goo from its scent sponge, right into its care giver's face..
"Greeeeeeat..." she murmurs with a long drawn out, but not ovelry frustrated, drawl, wiping her hand over her face, clearing her spattered visor of its fresh coat of slag.."Ooh! an andro-gem, not a femme...shoulda been able to tell from the shape.. but what with all that armor...*AHEM*.." She clears her throat and moves a few paces closer to her dramatic host and makes a bow with a wide sweeping gesture from her arm..".. And I am Captian Carbide, of the International House of Pancakes..here to sell you "POOF" insurence or tell you about any number of benevolant human or Home World deities and conduct random door to door surves on Gem's prefences of softness for rock pillows!"
She wasn't exactly sure how her host would react to her perticular brand of social graces, but on the other hand... she wasnt being paid to NOT act this way either, and this gem DID just build a great big castle in her path, that definitely wasn't there yesterday. "Sorry, the 'sass cannons' sometimes beg for a chance to buck.. Thank you for your.. graicous welcome Obsidian. Must admit, not PRECISELY what I expected to bump into, while on a route I walked only a few short days ago.." She lightly crosses her arms in front of her, and cocks her hip somewhat, whatching the tall figure, still standing a few meters off..
The castle was truly a sight to behold, and for something of this size to have been raised and formed by a lone gem's power alone, did garner a genuine level of profesiosnal respect for this tall armored gem, calling himself Obsidian, so she wasn't about to go about trying to start a bout of fisticuffs.
The magma that Obsidian had surrounded himself with acted as a cushion of sorts, absorbing much of the impact, which unfortunately caused come of the viscous liquid to splatter on his guest. When he saw that her form didn't even distort from the heat, he knew that she was heat resistant, which explains how she got past the moat. Obsidian had the immediate urge to face-palm in response, since his choice to make the dramatic entrance might have possibly given her a bad first impression. As with most of his urges, he suppressed it and stood stock still, just as he had been trained to. It was good to see that she seemed to shrug off his transgression and introduce herself instead of lashing out.
Obsidian found her introduction odd. To many, it might have been funny, with it's references and obvious sass. Most of the humor was lost on Obsidian, unfortunately. She immediately followed it up, giving Obsidian enough time to think of a reply, which had she been expecting one immediately after her introduction would have resulted in an awkward silence.
"I...apologize...for splattering magma on you.", he began. "I created this castle from the rock in the earth here quite recently. I see you also can withstand magma, it is a rare gift. Forgive me if I am not a good host, I was not expecting guests and I am...not the most sociable gem." Obsidian replied.

Carbide's expression softens and she becomes more composed, observing Obsidian ' s relative patience and curt behavior. "It's quite alright Obsidian, it's a surprise to meet anyone new out here. Also, I apologize if I came off as a bit...bubbly. Walking through your little lava moat dumped a bunch of extra thermal energy into my gemform and I suppose you could say it's left me a bit revved up, if the human expression means anything to you. Yes, thermal proof up to almost 5000 degrees Celsius so don't worry about the lil magma spatter, it'll flake right off."
The scout does a little 360 turn, gazing about the courtyard inside the walls, genuinely impressed at the complex ridges and shapes worked into the structure. Her host was obiously a closet architect or artist, she admired that. " Don't worry too much about standing on conventional social graces with me, wacky attitude aside, I tend to need some space and..personal decompression time away from others on a regular basis too."
"My incursion on your..home.. is somewhat a matter of happenstance and my own impatience. This spot was once a part of a route I regularly took through the kindergarten, and we I saw that someone had dropped a fortress in my path, I didn't feel like backtracking two klicks to go around. The route is rather specific you could say. I only meant to hop the wall and carry through to the other side of the caldera you kind of blocked off. Next time I can scout an alternate route that doesn't require me walking directly through your foyer. Your skills as a builder are impressive, you should be proud. Awful lot of room for one gem though, but it's not like there's loads of others clamoring for real estate here right? Hehe."
She wondered where this gem's faction loyalty lay, but she imagined she could figure thst out and a bit more if she kept up being social. It was just a scouts natural instinct to gather information on their environment after all... She eyeballs the gem's appearance, clad in thick blackened plates of armor that gave him a rather.. imposing appearance.. " So am I to gather by your appearance, that you commonly deal with.. guests.. that have more malevolant intentions than I?" She nods towards the armor.
Obsidian was surprised that she liked his fortress. He had mostly just made it for himself and thought it would be too drab for most others to appreciate it. He looked back up at it briefly, then back at Carbide. He did actually feel a bit proud. He had formed an entire large structure using only magma, purely from his imagination something he had never done before. This was the power for which he had been worshiped as a volcano god by ancient humans. He wondered, what she would think of the interior. The "old" Obsidian shouted in his head to boot her out of the castle, but this inner voice went unheard.
"You could say that. I also like to be prepared for hostility. You never know when an enemy will appear. Since you appreciate my creation, would you care to see the interior?" Obsidian asked her, gesturing toward the castle's large obsidian doors.

"Well, I do appreciate the subtleties of structure and durability, so a bit of a tour would be a welcome distraction from the rather repetitive canyons and crevices about this place. Don't worry too much if you haven't gotten to much decorating or anything." Carbide was actually surprised to be offered a tour, guess it never hurt to say hello to the new neighbors after all.
She strides behind her armored host, still wary of his possible intentions, she closes her eyes as she walks for a moment, focusing a heightened level of power from her gem core, into her body projection, bringing a little more durability and resilience to bare as she followed her host through the shiny set of blackish doors, coated in fresh volcanic glass.
"Well, then perhaps we should focus on making this unexpected meeting an exercise in hospitality rather than hostility? I'm nobody's gem but my own, so I respect the Independence of others and a need to be left to ones own business." She was content to let her new host lead, after all, you cant get sucker-punched from behind, when there's nobody there to land the hit, and she wanted to get a sense of this gem, if he was going to be setting up shop in relative proximity to her friend.
Obsidian gave her a small nod before turning and leading her toward the large glossy black doors. Doors of this size required tremendous strength to move manually, but Obsidian didn't need to use strength. He pressed his hand to the door and heated up the inner layer of the door enough to control it with his power and they opened easily, revealing a corridor the corridor was dark, until Obsidian raised his and and magma rose up into channels in the walls, illuminating the hallway with a bright orange light. The corridor was lined with obsidian statues that resembled armored warrior gems. At the end of the corridor was another, smaller set of double doors.
Obsidian slowly made his way down the corridor. He didn't speak, but looked behind himself to see if Carbide was still following him. When he reached the inner doors, he pressed his palm against them, like the outer set. They opened as well, the same way the others had, this time revealing a large chamber with a grand stairway that wrapped around a large statue of a dragon. On each side of the chamber were doors that led to other rooms.

Meta negotiated the winding canyons of the Kindergarten at incredible speed, a glowing knife that cut through the thick haze that hung over the abandoned Gem production site. The Autunite landed outside as the doors were shutting. She supposed it wasn't entirely respectful of Obsidian's privacy to follow him about like this, but then.... The two were friends, weren't they? And she was a bit concerned for him. He'd been more distant lately than when they'd first met. Meta wanted a chance to talk to him properly.
She called. The doors did not stir. She supposed that was to be expected. It was doubtful that hed he'd be able to hear her through solid rock and over whatever he was doing inside. And he'd been with another Gem.... Carbide. She recognized her from the fountain.
Meta flew to the door, and pressed at it. She was not a physically powerful Gem, and the doors did not budge in the slightest, no matter how she strained.
Meta's feet roared like jet afterburners, and she pressed at the doors, body lifting until she was horizontal. The enormous entryway creaked open rather rapidly with so much force pressed against it, and Meta soared down the hallway in time to see Obsidian moving through a second set of equally massive doors.

Carbide's head spun, she heard someone calling Obsidian ' s name. It sounded like it was coming from the direction that she and her host had came. From down the hall, near the first set of doors she heard what sounded like the roar of a pair of thermal induction thrusters and the creak of the heavy stone door giving way.
She halts her stride and grasps the door, stopping the heavy barrier from closing, peering back out just I time to catch a glimpse of a very tall figure, blasting towards her like a gem tipped missile, with very little time to react! Suddenly she was rather pleased she had the forethought to dump some extra magic into her body's resilience. .
"What the...Huh? Meta?! - Ow-oof!" The scout exclaims as the Crystal Gem regent collides with her like a battering ram, knocking her off her feet and driving her along the floor, her super dense gem scraping a groove in the shiny back surface until she slides right between Obsidian ' s legs, her shoulders bumping the armored heels of Obsidian, and the Autinite on top pf her body like a humanoid pretzel..
She shakes her head to regain her senses and looks up at the armored gem.."Guest to see you, Obsidian. Shall I take her coat?"..she then let's her head flop back down.
As Obsidian moved toward the second set of doors, he thought he heard someone call his name. The sound of Meta's voice echoed off the walls of the corridor and reached Obsidian. He paused and turned his head and body slightly in the direction from which the voice had come. What he saw as his guest holding the doors open and a humanoid rocket bearing down on them. He didn't have to to say anything. It turned out that Carbide took the brunt of the collision as she and Meta ended up sliding up as a heap up against his heels. He turned around, a serious look on his face at first. However, the sheer absurdity of what he saw and Carbide's comment clicked something inside of him and he chuckled a bit at first, then burst into full laughter. He bent forward and put his hands on his knees as he laughed for about 30 seconds before standing up straight and clearing his throat, once again looking more serious, though not as serious as he had at first.
"Yes, by all means show our guest proper courtesy." Obsidian said jokingly in response, but dryly. "Welcome to my castle, Meta. I had a feeling that you would find it eventually, though I didn't expect it to be this soon. What brings you here?" Obsidian asked and he reached down to help both of them up.

It has been quite some time that Obsidian returned back to The Kindergarten, she developed quite some fear in this place ever since most of her time spent on here is just being attacked on. This time however Obsidian has placed "landscape automatons" to scan most of the areas for her, most of these automatons are completely hidden from plain view unless you spend a day looking for them. So why was Obsidian heading back here with her ship? well to her unfortunate luck, to of her automatons that she'd placed were "blacked out" by some unknown force. Obsidian looked at the kindergarten from her ship and she spotted the castle that Obsidian knows for sure it wasn't there before. " So that might have caused my droids malfunctioning.."
She ordered her automatons to land the ship away from the castle, which they did no problem at all. Now the only problem was the "residents" that lived here...which she payed no mind whatsoever, she'll just capture them for research. "I want you six to come with me, meanwhile the rest of you" She turned to the rest of her automatons. "If anyone else comes here.. exterminate or capture them, i don't care whatever you do. Just don't let this ship be destroyed!" All the droids just floated on air, simply staring at her but they understood the order. Obsidian sighed and exited out of the ship along with her six other automatons that followed her. She made her way to the castle... with a plan forming in mind.
Meta disentangled herself from Carbide and stumbled to her feet, combing her hair back into shape and straightening her rumpled clothes. That had been..... Mortifying. Meta hadn't had such a clumsy accident in years. The situation was made worse by the twinges of pain Meta felt as she moved. Carbide certainly lived up to the boasts she'd made at the fountain. Hitting her had been no more pleasant than striking a solid slab of rock.
"Very funny, Carbide."
Meta shook herself and hovered once again, not trusting her shaken frame to support her gracefully.
"Well, I'm your friend, Obsidian. And you've been quiet lately. Withdrawn. I wanted to talk to you before, in the Temple, but things, well.... We had company.... And now, Carbide's here. And while I certainly don't distrust her, I wouldn't ask you to spill personal feelings in her presence if you didn't want to."
Melody: how are you doing? Are you going to make a character in here?

This Roleplay is a prequel to Steven Universe to an extent with some slight retconing and its own progression to the story that will turn out differently to how stuff plays out in the show. Thanks to the message by Rose Quartz several gems are rising up to protect Earth and have labelled themselves as the Crystal Gems. Others on earth are remaining aligned to Homeworld though despite the isolation of Earth from Homeworld
All gems on earth are still stranded, the communication hub is still offline and all the space warps are shattered, it has now been revealed that this is the work of Rose Quartz and her small group known as the Crystal gems. They have rebelled against Homeworld and have chosen to protect the Earth (Trapping themselves on Homeworld to keep the warps down).
Now both sides are fighting among themselves along with fighting against the 'Corruption' a virus is infecting many gems turning most of them into mindless monsters, but those with a stronger will seem to becoming something more sinister.
The Game has changed now. The question has finally been posed, are you against Homeworld or allied with them. Or do you have your own agenda that may or may not been assisted by the ‘Corruption’. Regardless the seeds have been placed down and although it is only the beginning the fight for or against Earth and the corruption has begun. The choice is yours for how it is shaped on the Original Steven Universe Roleplay Site.
Orginal Opening Plot Here Thread That Changed Everything
Differances Between the Roleplay and the Show
*Thanks to Rose Quartz' message the Gems on Earth are entirely aware that the Homeworld Gems intend to wipe out the human race.
*The "corruption"'s Origin is still unknown, some suspect it was a viral infection, other claim it was a Diamond experiment gone awry and other suspect the organics were behind it. Regardless no one seem to have a proper answer about what it was and why its only isolated to Earth
*Garnet, Pearl and Rose are assumed capture on Homeworld
*Garnet,Pearl and Rose broke the space warps to delay Homeworld
*Thanks to Roses Message gems now know what the Kindergarten was used for
