Empire City. It wasn't much to see, was it? At least that's what 7XB though as their pod zoomed lower the greasy oil slick the humans called..what was it? Jersey? And the city, it was little more than countless dull, stone towers sticking up out of the smog. Still, they were eager to land: they had their fill of confined spaces on Homeworld, and the few days spent on Pink Diamond's Moon base didn't give them nearly as much time to recuperate as they would have like. But, such was their lot in life. It wasn't all bad, though, the time has finally come to get to work. Some gems, ones that weren't this particular Quartz soldier, might call this a special day: it was their first mission since their reassignment, and the Clear Quartz's first time planetside. "Find a good spot to make a landing." They commanded as the little red pod dipped below the clouds, the human city below coming into full view, "and go easy on the controls, 2FG." A resounding series of 'hup-hups' signalled the compliance of their Ruby pilots. The city looked..better from this angle, they weren't afraid to admit, but not by much. A large, square expanse of what appeared to be thick ice seemed a good enough spot, and the pod quickly made its way towards it, the landing gear extended for impact as a pack of shrieking humans glided away quickly from the rink. A loud thud echoed across the park as the tripod gears embedded themselves in the ice. "Stable? Good work."
The pyrope fusion had been making her way around town for a while, making a return trip since her last incursion into the large human city. As before she was spotting an addition to her appearance, a rather small red top hat that barely sat atop her head at an angle. She decided that it was time to investigate some human past times while she was in town, finding herself seated around an odd patch of ice that the humans seemed intent on using. The idea was entirely alien to her, but she was trying to keep an open mind. She was seated fairly close to the front, oblivious that her height (and massive hair) blocked the view of anyone sitting behind her. Beside her she had a couple guilty pleasures, a large soda and a bag of 'popped corn'. She had only recently discovered it and she was already hooked on the fluffy things.
She was munching away while the crowd waited for the game to start, oblivious to the pod racing from the sky above. Even Pyrope was caught off guard as it slammed down, silently thankful the ice was mostly vacant of players when it came down. Upon seeing the clearly gem vessel her first reaction was to drop the popcorn as if she hadn't just been eating it moments ago, followed by sitting up and peering through the plastic barrier to get a better look.
Looking around it became apparent no one else was willing to near the debris, not that she blamed them, resigning herself to sort it out on her own. She hopped over the barrier, making her way rather clumsily across the ice. Eventually she made it, sliding gently into the ship with a slide thud, and ran a hand across the hull. "Certainly is a gem design..." She gave the side a good couple knocks, "Hello? Anyone inside? You're sort of parked in an awkward place..."
"Alright, not a bad landing, but it was a little sloppy. Next time-" a suddenly collision against the hull rocked the entire pod, followed by several, loud knocks and a muffled voice. "What in the universe?.." 7XB, the Clear Quartz soldier, pounded their massive fists together, a bright light surrounding their hands as the heavy gauntlets that served as their weapon come into existence. There was something or some-gem outside, banging on the pod. They weren't really quite sure what type of beasts inhabited this planet alongside the humans. 7XB was about to find out. "Open the hatch, 2FG, nice and easy." A portion of the outer hull slid outward, sliding to the side as a small ramp descended, buckling slighty beneath the massive bulk of the Quartz. At first they saw nothing, faint movement out of the corner of their eye, distinguishing itself from the red all around it. A gem, a Pyrope but..a big one? No, a fusion, was there still something dangerous nearby? They relaxed slightly, flipping a stray strand of bone white hair from their face. "You two, fusion," they began as they traverse what remains of the ramp, "where's the fight, warmachine?" Why else would they look like..that?
She jumped backwards as the hull slid open, standing at the ready as she examined the gem who recently exited the fallen shuttle. A few moments passed as she looked the gem up and down, noting her rather... buff body type. Clearly a quartz, no doubt about it, something she had little love for as far as gems went. Sure she respected them, and (like many others of a lower warrior class) envied their abilities, but most quartz she had met generally looked down on gems like her.
The fusion squared herself up, crossing her arms across her chest, "Fight? I don't..." It struck her that this gem likely just entered Earth (considering the dramatic crash landing) and as such thought much like they did off world. Part of her had to admit, being a perma-fusion would have seemed weird to her long ago. Considering herself loyal, and not wishing to alienate a likely ally she lied, "Right, sorry. I- We saw your pod crash down and thought maybe a fight was on our hands. Seems we were wrong. Right?" The question was less of a demand and more of a request, not liking the idea of squaring against a quartz soldier. She kept her relaxed stance, the idea of unfusing not crossing her mind.
There was something rather.. off-putting about these gems, this fusion, something vaguely twitchy or jittery that the 7XB couldn't quite put their finger on. Then again, the Clear Quartz soldier had been known, on occasion, to be unnecessarily paranoid around gems they hadn't met before. And fusions, well, there has always been something unsettling about the way they just.. "Right, well," they began after a brief silence, their pose relaxed while still residually hostile, " there isn't. So you can..you know." They motioned towards the pyrope fusion with their arm, signalling unfusing. Why hasn't they done it already, though? How could they standing being in a STATE like that without a valid reason? The very implications of extended fusion seemed otherworldly; They hasn't attacked yet, though, so it wasn't quite clear if they were loyal or one of this rebels. What were they called, again? 'Crystal Gems'? "Do you have some mission here, soldiers, or are you stranded?" If that was the case, then perhaps they were in luck, depending on their status.
The fusion seemed to blush, "Right, o-of course. Silly me." as her form began to glow and then simultaneously shrink and separate into two smaller silhouettes. Moments later two small pyropes were fully formed, notably holding hands with one another. They were very much different in appearance, and yet both looked familiar as they many of their features were shared by their fusion counterpart. One was far from looking happy, despite his neutral stance, while the distinctly female gem kept a friendly smile. Subtly her grip on the other pyrope's hand was solid as steel, "Heya! Sorry, we were a little on edge, haha~" she certainly seemed rather... bubbly despite the circumstances. Meanwhile the other pyrope was mostly silent, "Ya... can never be too careful on a rebel planet like this. Apologize."
The male gem glanced down at his hand currently in a vice-like grip, moving it behind his back and continued meeting the newcomer's eyes head on with his constant neutral glare. He was the one who spoke up when questioned about their mission, "We were here originally as guards for the primary Kindergarden, but obviously that has fallen through. We were initially looking for extraction but now..." there was some slight hesitation as he figured out how to phrase the answer, "...we've been doing small jobs here and there for loyalists. Helping where we can." Meanwhile, the other pyrope fell silent despite keeping her friendly demeanor. He continued, looking confident despite still holding the other gem's hand, "May we ask what your purpose is here? You have just landed among one of the most populated human cities around. I assume it certainly isn't a stealth mission..."
As the Pyrope fusion began to unfuse before them, 7XB had trouble keeping a neutral expression, an almost pained expression shown on their wide, pale features. A grimance of sorts; the Quartz soldier clearly felt unsettled by the whole situation, by fusion. It was a necessary evil, fusion, as many of the planets they had colonized throughout the ages had played host to countless hostile species. Therefore, it only made sense that certain, weaker gems would combine to be more useful in combat. This, however, well, the Quartz couldn't really put their finger on the source of their heightened discomfort with this fusion in particular. They still seemed rather off-put as the one became two, but time was already wasting. "Right," they replied crisply, the beginning of their sentence whipping the end of the surly, masculine gem's words, "today is your lucky day, the both of you.." then they noticed..They were holding hands..Why? "Err, anyway, MY mission, since it pertains to you, is quite simple." One could only wonder if they intended to be as condescending as they seemed. "It's my job to assist in the putting down this local insurrection as soon as possible. In the course of that mission, I'm supposed to help all the little lost gems they have become.. Misplaced over the past few years. Like you two, I presume?" Then again.."You two have been Planetside for awhile, yeah?"
The two of them listened intently, although unlike his counterpart Pyre looked more and more annoyed as the new gem continued. Once they had finished he let out a sigh and relaxed, "With all due respect Quartz, you are a quartz yes? We've been doing that since our initial job guarding the primary Kindergarden was halted. We haven't exactly been idle, y'know? Most gems on this planet have been trying hard to get things in order, we haven't just been 'misplaced'." he acted not so much as if he was superior, but more on the fact that he knew this planet much better than any newly arrived gems. He squared himself up, "And yes, we've been stuck here for quite some time. Too long, in fact. Albeit, we... well she managed to learn a fair bit about this place." He gestured to his partner, who outwardly seemed entirely friendly despite the nervous hand holding.
She nodded her head, "Feel free to call me Pye, and this is Pyre. We're... a team. Since being alone is kind of unsafe now days. And it's true, I've kept an eye on the species and activities here, unlike my companion." She gave her hand a hard squeeze as she said this, passively rubbing the fact in as if it was some old argument. Pyre cleared his throat, "Yes, well... while we have been busy under the orders of other gems as of late we are still under the Diamonds together. Anything we can provide, be it information or otherwise, is at your disposal." The idea might have almost seemed funny from an outsider, pyropes weren't exactly valued for their abilities as scouts or assistants. More as cheap guards to plop down in bulk around a perimeter. And yet these two seemed positive they could be helpful in some larger way.
"And I'm sure you've done the very best you could ,under the circumstances, soldier err..Soldiers. We can only expect so much from you without adequate support." They cleared their throat, blocking the unpleasant sound beneath a massive fist. "During the communications blackout, we were unaware of the situation in the colony, and with Pink Diamond's focus, understandably, being directed elsewhere, the malfunction was largely under investigated. Other than, as you know, the infrequent expeditions." All missing, largely. "The situation is.. Regrettable, but easily remedied, especially now that Pink Diamond has been made aware." It seemed almost like a briefing, didn't it? It wasn't entirely different than the one 7XB had given their platoon recently: the very Rubies piloting the pod, silently maintaining their positions, unless told otherwise. The Quartz was..Proud of them, inwardly. Then the rather dour Pyropes inquiry registered, the whole of their towering form straightening as was custom when stating one's designation, granite eyes cast downward toward them. "Yes, of course. Clear Quartz Facet-1R7J Cut-7XB. I serve her radiance, Yellow Diamond." It was she that sent them, placing them temporarily beneath the command of Pink Diamond.
Pyre grew a smirk, the closest thing he seemed to get to a smile, "Yellow Diamond? Good to hear." he pointed to the tattoo-like diamond symbol on the side of his head. Most prominent was the left-most diamond, Yellow Diamond's symbol, "We were here along with a few dozen other pyropes under her orders, serving as Pink Diamond needed us. I'm glad we are under the same perfect Diamond." He shifted, his body language seeming much less defensive than previously. He still kept a hold on his partner's hand, though it seemed she was the one clamping down on his (albeit her grip had loosened). Pyre continued, "And yes, we understand it was no small matter achieving connection with the colony again. I've heard of a number of loyal gems being stranded here and unable to complete their mission. The rebels are ruthless..." It was clear from his tone he had no love for the infamous Crystal Gems. Pye on the other hand didn't comment, content to allow Pyre to do the talking for the both of them. "So... how do you plan on starting your mission?"
It was easy enough to see that 7XB had began to relax a bit, not simply because of their luck in stumbling across two gems who shared a similar mission as them, but moreover they too belonged to Yellow Diamond. This certainly granted the strange little Pyropes av fair bit of leniency in the Quartz soldier's mind. Their weight shifted as the heavy gem traversed what remained of the wobbling gangplank, the metal groaning as it's great burden was relieved, laid now upon the cracking ice; the Quartz didn't seem worried, massive arms coming to cross their chest, brushing a wild lock of bleach-bone hair from their eyes. This was the first time 7XB had really taken the time to really LOOK at the urban sprawl around them. "Like this," they replied absently, taking in the gargantuan structures surrounding them, crawling with humans and, likely, other gems. Rebels. " Pink Diamond is not yet ready to commit to total war." The soldier was clearly more than slightly disappointed, and it told not only in their face, but their expression. "So my..Our operations must remain rather small. Until either the rebels are quelled or it becomes clear that a more serious campaign is needed." As much as they would like think this insurrection would be short lived, it had plenty of time to pick up speed, and Homeworld had no idea how many there were. Yet. "Seems a good enough place to gather Intel without drawing too much attention. And I've already rescued you two, haven't I? Let's hope our luck holds." This was, assuming, the little gems were ready to join their rather vague mission. Their own orders had been equally vague, so it wasnt by choice.
The two gems noted the sheer size of this gem, surely she was a true quartz by all senses of the word. Both were glad they had managed to make an ally of them, even together they would have a tough time defeating a higher-class quartz. Pyre nodded along, "So, we've got a search and rescue mission on our hands. Strictly low-key, gather as many forces as we can and then go offensive. Correct?" He was thinking he understood the mission rather well, but the last statement threw him for a loop. "Information on... why-" Before he could continue Pye cut him off, "Well! If you need to gather some information about this place we can surely be a big help!"
She gave his hand a squeeze, subtly communicating something to her partner. He gave her a look, not quite getting it but turned back to the quartz, "I suppose it is true. We have been... 'scouting' this place lately. We could provide a helping hand in the initial recon work. Your call, this is your mission. We'll provide whatever support we can if you request it." He meant the offer, after all he hardly expected a couple of free assets like the two of them to just be ignored.

"What is going on down here! Who are you and what are you doing with this glorified can in my city?"
The voice suddenly came from above, where a gem was flying on wings of fire. It would probably be quite impressive, if the voice wasn't that of a small kid... the claim of "his" city was quite a stretch too... it was obviously Morion's city... but he was still his heir so it was kinda his city?
Just few minutes ago it was a lazy day for the young Fire Opal. He was just sitting in his room high in the M-tower, watching the city spread all around. There were so many things to think about... but there was no time for that now - when he saw something falling from the skies... some kind of module? perhaps a pod? Or just a small ship? He had absolutely no idea... but some weird space junk just fall on city he was protecting... so he had to check it out...
And now he was here... seeing three unknown gems...
The little gem was partially right, this was definitely a search and rescue mission, and the look on their face made it clear that the Quartz gem wasn't really a fan of reconnaissance either, but those were the marching orders, they couldn't rush blindly against an enemy they knew nothing about. The other one seemed to understand that, at least. "Good, that's good. As such, I'm going to assign-.." And just as suddenly it seemed like Pyre might get a taste of what he wanted, a rather unassuming voice from the sky drawing the soldiers stony eyes to the..Gem? Floating on wings of fire above them. "Form up, you two. RUBIES, defensive formation." Blinding light whipped around their knuckles as the command rang out. Better safe than sorry, right? A series of diminutive 'hups' rang out from inside the pod as the platoon made ready to defend the ship, if necessary. Upon closer inspection, the avian didn't look all that impressive, minus the wings. "Official Business. And WHAT are you supposed to be?" They'd never seen such a strange looking gem before. What could they possibly be for? Irregardless, they weren't going to beinterfering.
Acting more on reflex than anything else the pyropes grabbed onto one another, and in a flash of light they became one again. The fusion stood at her full height and summoned forth her combined weapon, standing with a defensive stance just slightly ahead of the quartz. She kept her eyes on the newcomer the entire time, "I don't know this one XB, but I've never heard of any gem owning this human city." It certainly was a bit of an odd declaration, though she could see it happening. Gems were stronger than humans after all, one would be bound to try and lord over some of them. Not that it made any real strategic sense to her, but in any case this gem seemed awfully territorial. She kept herself at the ready, "This is your mission XB, your call."
This Roleplay is a prequel to Steven Universe to an extent with some slight retconing and its own progression to the story that will turn out differently to how stuff plays out in the show. Thanks to the message by Rose Quartz several gems are rising up to protect Earth and have labelled themselves as the Crystal Gems. Others on earth are remaining aligned to Homeworld though despite the isolation of Earth from Homeworld
All gems on earth are still stranded, the communication hub is still offline and all the space warps are shattered, it has now been revealed that this is the work of Rose Quartz and her small group known as the Crystal gems. They have rebelled against Homeworld and have chosen to protect the Earth (Trapping themselves on Homeworld to keep the warps down).
Now both sides are fighting among themselves along with fighting against the 'Corruption' a virus is infecting many gems turning most of them into mindless monsters, but those with a stronger will seem to becoming something more sinister.
The Game has changed now. The question has finally been posed, are you against Homeworld or allied with them. Or do you have your own agenda that may or may not been assisted by the ‘Corruption’. Regardless the seeds have been placed down and although it is only the beginning the fight for or against Earth and the corruption has begun. The choice is yours for how it is shaped on the Original Steven Universe Roleplay Site.
Orginal Opening Plot Here Thread That Changed Everything
Differances Between the Roleplay and the Show
*Thanks to Rose Quartz' message the Gems on Earth are entirely aware that the Homeworld Gems intend to wipe out the human race.
*The "corruption"'s Origin is still unknown, some suspect it was a viral infection, other claim it was a Diamond experiment gone awry and other suspect the organics were behind it. Regardless no one seem to have a proper answer about what it was and why its only isolated to Earth
*Garnet, Pearl and Rose are assumed capture on Homeworld
*Garnet,Pearl and Rose broke the space warps to delay Homeworld
*Thanks to Roses Message gems now know what the Kindergarten was used for
